A bit more context for this game: The Warriors finished that regular season with a record of 73-9, which is the best record in NBA history (1996 Bulls with MJ went 72-10). This was Lebron’s second season back with the Cavaliers after playing for the Miami Heat from 2010-2014, and many NBA fans, especially Cleveland fans, hated LeBron during this time because he abandoned his home team. This was kind of a redemption for LeBron, bringing a championship to Cleveland for the first time since 1964. Cleveland was also down 3-1 in this series at one point, making this the first time a team has comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals EVER.

Don't forget the Warriors had beaten them in the Finals the previous year and this was the second of four straight years the teams would meet in the finals. That year, Steph Curry also became the first player ever to be voted the league MVP in a unanimous vote. Also, the reason why the "abandonment" was so notorious flor Cleveland fans, is because not only were the Cavaliers the team that drafted James and where he spent his first seven years, but James is a native of Akron, which for all intents and purposes here is a part of Cleveland (and Lebron and Curry were actually born in the same hospital in Akron!)

The craziest part to me about LeBron blocking Iguodala is how the flow of the game is going. No team can score and when it looks like the Warriors have an easy layup for the lead LeBron just takes it away. Had to be heart crushing to Golden State.

Lebron got drafted by his home team Cleveland cavaliers, they failed to build a competitive team around him so he went to Miami to play with friends and go for rings. After winning with Miami he wanted to go back to Cleveland this time with much more control over roster moves to end the 52 year drought for Cleveland (all cleveland sports btw not just basketball have been in this drought). After winning with cleveland he went to LA where he is now. Love the videos as always!

The funny thing is that even though that series up to that point had seen only blowouts left and right, at that point not only were they tied up 3-3 and 89-89, but the two teams’ cumulative scores for the series were tied up 699-699. They won the entire series on a three-ball and a free throw.

4:06 Nick is right but steals and blocks are also considered for double/triple doubles. Points/assists/rebounds are simply the easiest to get double figures in. There have been four quadruple-doubles in NBA history. Another relatively rare feat is the 5x5 where a player gets at least five in each of the five main stats.
@FS2K4Pilot
@FS2K4Pilot Жыл бұрын
LeBron, as I recall, was only the third player in history to post a triple-double in Game 7, IIRC beside Jerry West and James Worthy, and the first player in Finals history to lead every player on both teams in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks and steals over the course of the series.

Basketball is a game of runs. It's common to see teams miss 4/5 in a row or on the other side make 4/5 in a row. Playoff intensity definitely coming into play in these moments, refs let teams get more physical and it becomes harder to find good shots.

Down 3-1 to a 73 win team in which everybody, except Cleveland fans, assumed was going to be a other Golden State championship. You guys should have heard the city cheer. Every time I hear "The drought is over." I always drop a tear from a 3-1 to get a championship. My mom wanted to go to downtown Cleveland for the Cavs celebration and she didn't finish getting ready until 1:30am 😂 but the rest of my family went to the parade a couple of days later. It was about nearly 50,000 people at the parade and the players had red or gold convertibles waving at the fans. Even JR Smith was shirtless drinking a Gatorade and blasting a song called "F Steph Curry"😂 Gotta love it.

LEGENDARY
@stubbzzz

This was the final minutes of an epic 7 game series between two legendary teams who were evenly matched. Both teams played their hearts out, especially Cleveland after doing the impossible and completing the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. Both teams were just completely exhausted out there with jelly legs, and nothing left to give. No one could make a shot, the next basket was going to win the game. So,when the Warriors looked like they were about to make an easy layup and win the game, LeBron ran across the entire court and flew in out of nowhere to block it, was just such a dramatic moment. And then the youngest guy on the court ends up making the winning shot. Kevin Love, also played the best defense of his life against curry in this clip. Love is not known as the best defender, and seeing Curry, the best shooter in history, putting the moves on Love had Cleveland fans with a lump in their throat, expecting the worst, but Love’s defense held when it mattered most. Also, to this day, I am angry with Draymond Green for fouling LeBron James, on what would have surely been the most emphatic dunk in NBA history. All of Humanity was robbed on that play. This series was Legendary. You guys should find a documentary or react to each game of the whole series. It’s my favorite NBA finals ever.

@JT-Rebel
@JT-Rebel Жыл бұрын
Some clarification: 1- The first team to overcome 3-1 deficit is referring to the NBA Finals (ironically, those same Warriors had to overcome a 3-1 deficit themselves to win the Western Conference Championship) 2- The Triple-Double achievement is not strictly held to Points/Assists/Rebounds, but essentially any of the "major" stats (although it's usually a positive mark, which is why no one will call it a "true" Triple-Double if you have 10+ turnovers) 3- LeBron is from Akron, Ohio (a city 40 miles outside Cleveland) so when he was drafted #1 overall in 2003, he was expected to be a Hometown Savior. He won 1 Eastern Conference Title (2007) before controversially leaving to form a "Super Team" in Miami (2010). That Miami team won the East all 4 years (2011-2014) he was there while also winning 2 NBA Finals (2012/2013) before things didn't work out and he left Miami and returned to Cleveland

The missed shots are not nerves, at this level these guys don't get nerves. It's DEFENSE that cause the missed shots

Game only even took place because the league suspended Draymond over some complete bullshit. Once again LeBron needs someone else to bail him out.

Eh. LeBron initiated everything that got Draymond Green suspended in this series. If you actually watch the incident LeBron literally threw Draymond to the ground then very purposefully stepped over him to taunt yet it's only Draymonds response to this happening that was ever seen by the officials. It's beyond clear as day if you just go watch the actual footage. LeBron also campaigned to the league office after the game to push for Draymonds suspension. That moment really tainted the hell out of this series for anyone who actually paid attention. Draymond never should've been suspended and this is at a time when he was getting defensive player of the year votes on a consistent basis. Dramatically altered the series and never should've happened.

Wouldn’t have mattered if Draymond didn’t already have 6 technical fouls in the playoffs up to that point. The suspension was automatic as it was his 7th. You reap what you sow. Draymond had no one but himself to blame.
