Basically so I didn’t have any idea the Cavs were 3-1 behind until later on in the video, I know it’s one of those things people would get frustrated at (completely fair) as it that is what makes this story so incredible. I notice around 12-13 minutes into the video, don’t hate meee:) nevertheless what an absolutely incredible video, I love comeback stories like this so damn much

LeBron was born and raised in Ohio and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in Ohio so he watched them growing up
@hermunkulus
@hermunkulus 4 жыл бұрын
What made this so significant was: 1) The first championship for the city of Cleveland since 1964 2) The 2016 Cavaliers were the first team in NBA history to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the finals. 3) The Warriors put together the greatest regular season record in NBA history. You can make argument that there was also a lot of pressure because LeBron's reasoning for going back to the Cavs (he's also from Ohio) was to win them a championship which he did. Also, he won two championships with the Miami Heat before this.

Free throws are regarded as one of the easiest shots in basketball. The average free throw % in the nba is around 75%. They're called FREE throws for a reason. There are some notable exceptions. For example, Shaq was a notoriously poor free throw shooter shooting on 52.7% for his career. Many teams came up with a strategy of just fouling him and forcing him to shoot free throws rather than trying to guard him. This became known as "hack-a-Shaq".

And we were finally able to get that title coming back 3-1 a top 2 team in regular season history that won the most games ever in the regular season with a 73-9 record and had not lost 3 games in a row all season, and with the hometown kid in lebron who grew up in akron which was only about an hour away from Cleveland so he was the hometown kid, and we were able to do it. This Finals was everything 1. A seemingly unbeatable team (Warriors) who got the best record in the NBA of all time that season, even now (73-9) 2. LeBron James with his somewhat rag-tag group of players (compared to Warriors stacked roster) 3. LeBron returning to his OG team (Cavs) promising to bring a championship to the team and to the city of Cleveland who hasn't seen a championship trophy since 1964 from any sport 4. Losing against the Warriors the previous year 5. Cavs going down to a 3-1 deficit 6. The Cavs bringing it back and clutching the Finals in Warriors home court and winning the championship for the Cavs and all of Cleveland 7. The first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals and beating the best team in the league with the best record ever. This Finals is one of the greatest (coming from a Lakers fan) has such a great story and will go down is one of the most memorable. P.S It would have been even better if the Cavs won in Cleveland but how it played out was basically perfect.

One thing my roommate and I were talking about (Both of us are Cavs fans born and raised in Ohio), in moments like these all concept of time just goes out the window. You can visibly see how nervous the players are and the world just stands very still. Very similar as you mention to the World Cup when it comes to desperation time. You're shaking, the players are shaking, it's one of those moments where the game seems to be above reality. This is #1 NBA Moment of all time for me. A little biased because I'm a Cavs fan, but this was a story book for those of us who live here. It ended up kicking off one of the greatest summers in history, and you ask almost anyone from here, they'll tell you the summer of 2016 was a different level.

A lot of things happened for the 2016 season and then someone changed all that... Kevin Durant joined the Warriors in the off-season AFTER LOSING to them in the round before! A lot of people hated him for that cause it really messed up the balance in the league. As of the 2020 season he has joined Brooklyn while he recovers from an Achilles injury. 2016 has one of the best story lines and overall basketball and is a great stepping point to catch up to speed with the league today! Kyrie's crossover on Steph and shoot the 4 ball over him (both are of similar height) is one of the iconic plays in these series. That shot was the dagger on Warriors Ground. LeBron's free throws 1 of 2 sealed the win and title. In the next two consecutive Finals, Warriors signed KD--Kevin Durant--and he served the beautiful and fierce daggers so effortlessly and precisely.

Been an nba fan since I was really young I’m a lakers fan and without being biast I’ll rank this probably best moment in nba history because of the fact that it was the first championship for the cavs team and first time ever winning after being down 3-1 PLUS the warriors team that year broke the nba record for most wins in a season ever at 73-9 so they were the big favorites to win. This shocked every basketball fan in the world it was amazing to watch live

I believe the last time the road team won Game 7 of the Finals was in 1978, however, no team had ever come back from a 3-1 deficit. Ironically, later in the year (2016), the Cleveland Indians baseball team blew a 3-1 lead in the World Series, giving the Cubs their first title in 108 years.

It's common to miss shots. Every team makes less than half of all their shots. Sometimes teams go on cold streaks like they did here but there's also lots of hot streaks where it seems like they never miss. In this case it was because good defense, a little bit of bad offense, and just super high pressure that resulted in lots of misses.

The officials missed the call on that LeBron layup but I really think they absolutely nailed this closing stretch... there were so many near-fouls that they let go uncalled, and it made the ending so much more exciting.

To put something extra, the Warriors didn't actually blew/choked a 3-1 lead, in game 5 draymond green was suspended, and at the same game Andrew Bogut got a knee injury, which led to a disadvantage on rebounding for the Warriors

Well there is a basketball world cup, but it's usually not as competitive as an NBA Playoff, just because it's been dominated by only a few teams in recent history, more specifically USA, Serbia, Spain and France.

In this game the Cavs make 40% of their shots and the Warriors 38%. NBA teams usually make 40%-50% in a regular game, that changes in the Playoffs with the pressure and more intense defense. For example the Rockets missed 27 straight threes in a Western Conference Finals Game 7 against the Warriors in 2018 and they were the best three point shooting team in the NBA that year

This was the first and so far only championship for the Cavs. Before this, the Browns (Cleveland's NFL team) were the last Cleveland team to win a championship and that was in 1964. In addition to that, the Browns have won 5 league championships since the last time the Indians (Cleveland's MLB team) won the World Series.

👍👍👍👍👍 Awesome Luka. Now you understand how big of a win this was. I was not a fan of the Cav's but anyone who loves the game can appreciate how incredibly difficult it is to come back from being down 3-1. Darn near impossible, yet the Cav's pulled it off. Fair play man... ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This one hurts. I'm from the town where the warriors play (or, used to play) and I still remember the vibe after they lost. Everyone thought the world was coming to an end. The warriors had the greatest season of all time, as you probably know, going 73-9, and they hadn't lost three games in a row that entire year

So on free throws.... They are meant to be the easiest shot in the game. They are only given to you if any of these following things happen : A) you’re fouled while shooting (if you miss the shot, you get one free throw for every point of the shot you took, so if you got fouled and missed a 3 pointer, you get 3 free throws, if you get fouled shooting a 2 pointer you get 2 free throws. If you make the shot you got fouled on then you get just one free throw. That is where the phrase “And-1” comes from) B) the opposing team fouls you while you are in offense and they have 5 or more team fouls for the quarter. In this instance in the NBA you get 2 free throws. C) the opposing team is given a technical foul (arguing with refs, taunting, or calling a timeout when you have no more timeouts) plus with a technical foul (also known as a “Tech” or a “T”) you get the ball along with the free throw. D) the opponents get a flagrant foul (unnecessary contact that can result in just 2 free-throws and ball back, or an ejection and fine, depending on the severity of it.) That is the ways that first come to mind when how you get to shoot free throws. They are easy but not automatic. Especially in tense situations. The best in the league shoot around 90%, while the worst can shoot as low as 20%. The league average is 70%. Also with free throws you can jump. That’s not illegal. As long as your feet do not cross the free throw line before the ball hits the rim. Otherwise the shot is basically cancelled and can’t count, and will not be given a re-do. That’s basically it. If anybody else notices something I’m missing pls lemme know, and if you’ve made it here, damn you are a Warrior

The Warriors also had the best record in NBA history, 73 and 9, beating out Jordan's Bulls who achieved a 72 and 10 record in 96. Also, the Cavs were down 3 games to 1 in the series and had to win 3 in a row which had never been done. Basically, after game 4, nobody in their right mind would have thought the Cavs could win the series.

Please please react to the most recent champions, the Toronto Raptors. The journey they went to make it to their first ever finals was crazy. Winning four games in a row in the conference finals, beating Philadelphia on a buzzer beater and dethroning the warriors. Such an awesome story. As a Canadian, I was super proud at that moment, knowing how many times that we have been written off and brushed aside, proving everyone wrong. Gave me tears of joy

Was in Cleveland that night at the watch party for the game. (My profile pic has been the same on KZbin since)(Kyries game winning 3). That moment of my life will forever be not just the greatest moment of basketball to me, but the greatest day of my life. I’ve never seen a whole city truly come together. Never been in a place so loud, with so many tears. The tension throughout the game is what made it so great too. Walking out of the Q seeing strangers hugging, crying and laughing together was a great moment for me. Showed me how the city of Cleveland really was. We’re grinders down here in Cleveland, we might not always be the best, but we will always show our best effort. (Neglect the current Cavs team, we are still getting things back together since LeBron went to LA

The context of this makes it so much crazier. The city of Cleveland is always used as a punchline in the USA as a boring bland city no one wants to go to and they haven’t won a professional sport’s championship since the 1960s in any sport. They have had absolutely horrible luck in every sport. The Lebron who is from the area luckily gets drafted to his hometown team.. leaves, breaks their hearts, comes back and beats the greatest regular season basketball team in nba history in 7 games after being down 3-1 in the series. It’s storybook Ps. Oh and this was the very last game in Oracle arena in Oakland California where they had been for decades. The next year they went to their new stadium across the bridge in San Francisco. Which is it’s own story because Oakland is seen as the black or less rich part of the Bay Area and as soon as the warriors got good again they moved the team back to San Francisco away from the wild Oakland crowd
