Ok, it’s the 3rd time you’ve forgone hot entrees for lack of heater but you have hot water? Just get a larger shallow container and fill it with the boiling/ hot water. Then put the entree cans in it. Don’t forget to vent for safety. Let sit until warm, and enjoy. Keep up the great work, both of you!

I've had one, and concur wholeheartedly. I saw Steve 1989 testing one, and the contents of it were so outré, (Ostrich in cranberry sauce, for god's sake, which was the crown on a load of other yummy stuff), that I bought one, immediately. Did I share any with any of the other blokes on my shift, that night? No. 😆😆😆

One tip for eating high quality dark chocolate with high percent of cocoa is to take piece of chocolate and stick on the roof of the mouth and wait to start to melt then sip litle rum (some good quality too). Also crispy bacon dip in melted dark chocolate and wait to harden... It is mental how good it is.

If you're wondering what they're actually saying when they speak French (most of these are fairly easy to guess, but here you go anyway); 0:30: This is the three/third. 2:29: Spot on, spoon in french is definitely "le spon". Yep. (it's "cuillière", if you're wondering) 2:50: I'm gonna "go" the chocolate in the water. 8:45: I'm sorry. 12:16: Shall we eat? / Ashens: Why yes! 14:50: I am very impressed / Ashens: Why yes, my.. my brother. 19:23: On the plate. (yeah, this one wasn't very hard)

The reason it looks so big compared to the others is that it's probably a 24-hour ration and the others were 12-hour. Winter rations tend to be different too, with more calories to counter the weather. Lithuania does a really good MRE. Also, the Korean ones look good if you can get hold of one.

Love these videos of testing the MRE’s, but I reckon we need an ‘MRE’s of the world - championship table’. Score all of the kits based on categories out of 5 points e.g cold drink, hot drink, biscuits/snacks, main meal, desert/sweet then tally up the points and place it in the league. I do think the French one would rank quite highly

I bought a container of curry from the local asian market. Got it home and noticed the best by date was in 2016. This was a few weeks ago, mind you. Opened it up and saw that the curry was sealed in a thick plastic bag and crammed inside the round container. Opened the bag and filled the container. Used it that day. It was wonderful. Had a minty aroma. Did not taste anything off when I used it in a dish. Sell by/best by dates are generally BS.

Note that a lot of "MREs" being sold online have nothing to do with the military. They're just packages of long-lasting food for people to keep at home or take when they go camping / hiking.

I thought you can probably do a sort of sous vide with the tins and put them in boiled water to heat them up a bit instead of having them cold since you can't use fire in the bunker. Love these ration vids. you two are hilarious together.

The milk powder in the muesli has been standard for a long time now, nowt new there. Also remember that's a 24 hour ration, not a single meal. The snacks are to tide you over between meals so calorie dense but easy to eat on the move. You really should try a British and a German one too though.

Thats a whole days food in a box B L and D plus snacks there is a lot of field trading amongst troops. High calorie for energy on long days and night maneuvers my husband said 20+ hours on your feet was typical

you know i got some regular instant oatmeal and it had that fill line on the bag thing and the thing I was thinking is, that's a different amount of water depending on how you're holding the bag. I don't think you get an accurate water ratio with that method except by luck

If I'm not mistaken, that French product is actually using the correct Swiss German spelling of "Müesli" on the bag, not "Müsli" as the Germans do - we Swiss like to make fun of the "Müsli" spelling, as this means "little mouse" in Swiss German, while the correct diminutive of "Mus" (mush) is "Müesli" with the ü-e diphthong.
