Today, I went shopping for a few needed supplies to make my first ever homemade cake!🍰 I am going to combine your tutorial with the Blue Ombré tutorial from Preppy Kitchen. It has been awhile since I’ve been so excited like this, and I cannot wait. I’m making this cake for my radiation therapy staff that I’ve seen five days a week for seven and a half weeks. They’ve been incredible and ever so kind that I just want to show them how much I’ve appreciated their kindness. Plus, I cannot think of a better way then to make an amazing cake from you and Preppy. You’ve both inspired me, and it’s an amazing feeling to have right now. Tonight, I wash all of my new tools. Tuesday, I bake all of the cakes and make a white chocolate, whip like frosting. Thursday, I frost the cakes and Friday, I take it to my very last day of radiation! I’m exuberant to say the least. So thank you, your videos have meant a great deal to me through these trying times. I’m always smiling afterwards and to me that’s huge right now. You’re an amazingly sweet person, smart as all get, and creative with a fabulous imagination to boot. This is by far the best tutorial on how to make stripes on a cake! I did exactly what you said, even put more frosting on to make it easier for the stripes when I created them. Took the comb, created the stripes, then frosted them in with the other color… you’re right, it did look like a mess (haha), but after I kept scraping the frosting away, the stripes miraculously appeared :) Thank you for sharing! It looked amazing!

I wish I had known this when I worked in a bakery. We did it the rustic way and the black and white stripes were so popular and we’d often have to do them with very little time which left little time for error. They blended a lot and an important detail is when you do them that way the end of the piping bag/tip needs to be identical to get it neat. Love this video! Thanks for posting. I don’t think I’ll ever go back once I invest in one of these stripe combs 😍
