You’re right! I think trauma as a child can do two things. Make you HYPER sensitive to violence. Or make you desensitized to it. I had a horrible childhood as did my husband and we both became HYPER sensitive to it. I can’t see violence or trauma happening to a person or animal. We both became the opposite of our parents. Some people become worse than their parents.

My man was abused by his alcoholic father and it made him very sensitive to it. If I put my hands near his neck when we are intimate it triggers him. He’s the sweetest protector I’ve ever met. So sorry you had to experience that because I now see how it can damage someone forever.

Had an abusive childhood, I went both ways unfortunately. Teen years, I had major issues with violence and just being angry at the world. Took me until mid mid 20s to finally get myself together. I am desensitized to violence in every way, except when it has go do with children. I worked in the medical exaimers office, blood and death doesn't bother me. So in my case, I think she is spot on...40% wired and 60% environment. Now I am much happier and you would never know what I went thru, but I'm still not bothered by death and violence.

My psychiatrist told me that that's why a lot of depressed people keep their blinds closed. Got to get the sun. I literally sit outside in the sun. Also, working out is a good thing as well. Things that make me happy are simple things like coloring. I have coloring books. Running also makes me happy but COVID so that's part of why I,ve also been having a hard time right now. So I feel you. I have to be on meds because my disorder makes me violent if I am not medicated. So, like my therapists say, "are diabetics ashamed that they have to take medication for their illness?" So why should I be ashamed that I take meds? But yeah, I write a lot about these things. I suck at YT and editing so don't expect vids from me. Sorry for all the books.

I've been battling with manic depression for years and then in 2014 I got pheneumonia and ended up in a coma on life support for 3 weeks. After 10 weeks I was released from my third hospital and due to some insurance bullshit, I was denied physical therapy so I had no use if my legs. Several internal organs had shut down and they didn't think I was going to make. Long story short, I went from being a healthy, active person to having to teach myself to walk again. Since then my health and physical appearance has deteriorated to the point I can't walk to my mailbox. I am so proud of you for all your hard work managing your mental health because it is so difficult to get a hold of everything sometimes. I enjoy many different true crime content providers on KZbin in addition to Brittney including Bailey, Eleanor, Better Off Red, etc. the point of me saying this is that I enjoy all of them because they all present these cases in different ways, from different viewpoints and sometimes some find different research than others. The whole point is they are all different and they all compliment each other in a subject we all love, true crime. Furthermore, I enjoy supporting women in roles where they can share their talents and gifts while making a income. It isn’t very often that an individual is given the opportunity to truly live out their passions, long held interests and hobbies and actually make a income or career from the opportunity. I applaud each of these outstanding women for being brave enough to put themselves out there without knowing what the outcome would be. Kudos to you all ladies!

So glad you’re back! Recently I realized I need to go see a psychologist. Just like you I thought what I was feeling was normal until I opened up to my boyfriend. Thank you so much for being open Ngl I felt a little embarrassed when he brought it to my attention which is sad because no one should ever feel ashamed for seeking help. 💕
@BrittneyVaughn3 жыл бұрын
Nope, nothing to be ashamed of at all. I’m glad you realized that, I have yet to meet a person who came to this realization on their own. A lot of us really think it’s normal.

The cannibal's theory is interesting, can't wait to hear more. I'm particularly interested in how he explains babies that weren't breastfed, if he does have an explanation. I'm also wondering the percentage of cannibals that were breastfed vs bottle fed.

I absolutely agree on the nature/nurture standpoint. I was badly abused by the one man who should have protected me more than any other man. I was believed and my mum kicked him out. She treated me so kindly and loved me unconditionally. I felt so scared but that changed the more love my momma gave me. She was an awesome woman and she shaped me into who I am today. I lost her 30 years ago to cancer and I miss her every day. But I look in the mirror every day and give thanks for having her in my life. Thank you for letting me share my truth.x

when i got sexually assaulted the dude literally said to my friend that he “could never do it bc he was molested as a kid” and i think what you were explaining towards the end of the video is really true. like i could never inflict that upon someone else because of my trauma and i would never wanna put someone else not even feeling safe in ur own body but other people just dont see it the same . maybe they jus use that as a reason to?

That is exactly what I have-generalize anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder..... lots of self love, lots of hard work, lots of self acceptance. When you make it out the other side be grateful but I never forget because it’s not over... it’s a part of me and on the good days I now know I can’t take on too much because next week I might be struggling to just do the dos girly.... and that’s ok too.

Simply………..THANK UOU . I felt like the end of this video was a message personally for me. I have been suffering terribly with anxiety and depression for the last 3 years, maybe even longer. I was laying in the bed listening to this true crime story, and that ripped it up sleep. I woke up right as you were talking about your bout of depression anxiety. Sometimes I think God speaks to me in different ways, and this was one of them. Thank you for your tips and suggestions. I’ll start working on myself. Love and blessings.
