@@MARKYB7659yes it was actually the Loren Allred arrangement that was played after her golden buzzer. It was BGT who suggested to her that she sing this herself for the final, as she only had 3 days to prepare for the final after winning her semi-final. Initially she refused because Loren Allred is her idol, but Loren sent her a video message giving her blessing, so she was persuaded to do it. The Allred version, which Loren sang exquisitely in the AGT semi-final is great, but there’s something about Sydnie’s delivery that really hits you. Her song choices of Tomorrow-reflect her 10yr journey of not quite getting there but hoping, My Way- her desire to not be singing some directors way and Over the rainbow-the dream. I think her name is a stars name which she has now grown into. Her journey brings tears to my eyes, so so pleased for her.

I am approaching my 75th birthday. I was raised on the Southside of Chicago. We lived down the street from Mahalia Jackson, the great gospel singer. . I remember her giving out candy to neighborhood. kids. The record stores had loud speakers, so that the surrounding streets were filled with the latest sounds.. My mother had every record made by: Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and she played them all day long.. She would stack them on the record player and they played while she cleaned, cooked, and washed our clothes, My earliest memories of her was her singing to them as she moved about the house. Later there was Aretha and we her children introduced my mom to the music of the young Aretha Franklin. Mama fell in love. Five kids, one bathroom and one television. There we were, all that lived in the house, piled in front of the TV for one of the first television showing of the Wizard of Oz. Judy Garland's Over the Rainbow was mesmerizing. There was this girl at school that I was really hot for, meaning I was sort of open for anything. She introduced me to Barbara Streisand, She insisted I take her to see Funny Girl. Barbara , as you know, was and is transcendental. While serving in the Army, stationed in Korea, we, all the brothers in the barracks, heard Whitney Houston's first album. It was played non stop. So what is my point? I know what I hear when I hear.it. Sydnie Christmas has what all the great ones had. They are all singing to us through her, yet she is her own person. The comic jesters, the bug eyes and twisted mouth she does that evoke laughter, reminds me of the comedians we use to see at old Regal Theater in Chicago. Rightfully named Christmas ,she is a gift to us.

Over The Rainbow was sung by Loren Allred that was used when Sydnie got the Golden Buzzer. Loren Allred then give Sydnie permission to sing the song the same way.

@@taylor26101I think it was Loren’s arrangement but yes, Sydnie put her own spin on it with the help of the AGT coaches (in 3 days, mind you). Exemplary performance!!!🎭

Think about her if she takes a song that everybody has heard and she goes about it and her own way and it makes it like it’s the first time you ever heard it. It’s absolutely stunning how she does that her voice is beyond measure. She’s a gift from God.
