I didn't get the Bruce Cook tongue-in-cheek jab until I read the comments. I went from a bit confused to "that's pretty mean" to "Oh, I see" as I read. As far as this recovery went, you started out with the goal of helping someone in trouble (important) got in some trouble yourself, and then helped each other out to get to safety. While that may not have been a rousing success, it was in no way a failure in my book. 🥛🍪 (Couldn't find a chocolate milk emoticon, so here's a plain milk and a chocolate chip cookie. Cheers.)

The thing about Casey is that he is prepared for nearly the worst. His vehicles have stuff in them to help the rescues and recoveries. He is also a thinker and figures out how to use ropes and winches to get the ordeal over and successful. Sure, the whole situation went to s***, but he put his brain in gear and everything worked out.

I appreciate your honesty about anxiety. You do a good job of hiding it. I'm a sixty four year old retired firefighter who was forced to retire due to severe anxiety. As much as possible try to put things in perspective and realize all you can do is all you can do. Anxiety does not disappear when the job is done, it compounds in your soul and takes more and more out of you.

Many years ago I got trusted with the company Unimog to go collect a big stump grinder. Out for the day driving a Unimog by myself - dream job with a big responsibility. Got all the tricky urban stuff done and was heading back feeling overconfident when I encountered some military guys stuck in a ditch. Like a fool I offered to haul them out. Everything went to Hell in a handbasket. Blocked the road, broke the back window in the cab, nearly flipped the army wagon, jack-knifed my trailer and got jammed, got a big chain knotted round the front linkage on the mog. Left a huge mess in the road and limped back into the yard, late and ashamed! I feel your pain.

Casey, we love the ZackLift and the Heavy Recoveries. We love the off-road recoveries too. We love the PLSBend clean-ups. We love the maintenance day videos - at home, at Nate’s, or at Ben’s!! We love the adventure across the mountains, deserts, and the flatlands videos. If you are not nervous on a recovery, then you are not thinking, and that is when the real danger starts. You are always thinking!!! Also, when you go into the woods, you have backup plans for your backup plans for your plans (front winch, back winch, extra fuel, Yankum ropes, air down, compressor, etc.)! You are prepared!!! Ethan is a great partner because he is always thinking, asking, questioning and has loads of experience too! He makes the team better!

Casey, when I watched your short the other day about BruceCook, I started to get upset, because I watch his channel, also. But when I realized what you were doing, I had to laugh. I hope it helps him. On this video, I can totally relate to what you are feeling, and saying. I grew up (in the 60s) helping my dad do similar recoveries with his '42 Dodge Army surplus 4x4 w/PTO winch on the front. Lots of mechanical failures, bad weather, etc, but he always got the job done. Just keep on doing you. The fact that it bothers you shows that your intentions are right! I'll keep waching!!!

What your good at Casey is putting yourself out there and being vulnerable to help people that dont have an option for getting themselves out of a bad situation. If you werent willing to face your fears and anxiety, lives could be lost and at a minimum the people that you are helping would become overwhelmed by anxiety because they dont know what to do and have become desperate. Over time your experience will overcome your anxiety if you keep in mind that what you do matters more even when your afraid than the people that are desperate and have no means tor helping themselves. You're the most courageous and considerate guy out there making a difference in peoples lives when it matters most. If you weren't, the masses wouldnt be tuning in. What you're doing gives people confidence to live there lives even if they have challenges to overcome as you do. Thanks for doing it all with grace and humility! You are making a difference.

I have the feeling that the next time the tracked vehicle comes out, and Casey says: "I know it's a bit of overkill for this job.", there will be a: "Remember the Alamo" moment that references back to this unfortunate situation. Seriously though, considering how much effort you put into maintaining your equipment, thinking through the safest and best way to do recoveries, etc, I don't think you have any reason to feel awkward at all about the rare mishap that occurs. I'd bet significant money that you have far fewer of these problems than most other people, and the only real difference is that you have video of the few times it happens, which makes it seem far more impactful than it should be. That's all.

I have to admit, you're one hell of a resourseful recovery expert. When the going gets tought, the tough gets going. Every recovery has some unknowns. You're dependent upon the customer to give information that may not be accurate or complete. But they aren't experts. Your customer, I imagine, also shares your anxiety wondering if he'd even be able to call for help. In the end, a successful recovery.

I appreciate your transparency and modest honesty. I don't understand people who prefer "ignorance is Bliss" we should all want full truth even if it's self depreciating. Truth allows solutions... sugar coating impedes solutions...

A lot went wrong but it wasn't a failure. You got in and you got the customer out. It might not have gone as planned but the mission succeeded.

Casey, when things go wrong it’s all about pulling together and getting through it. You Ethan and the customer all pulled together and pulled it off. Great job and great video.

Sometimes working the problem is all you can do! It’s ok to have a bad day and it’s even better to admit to a bad day and still come out on the other side.

You got the customer and yourselves out, good job. Don't beat yourself up, learn from it and move on. Those high lift jacks are the most dangerous jacks out there. I have 3 of them and learned the hard way. You can make you a larger base for the jack to make it more stable. We did that on ours no more learning the hard way.

Casey Ladelle, Love your channel. Your audio and videos are very good. You talked about one of your sponsors, Aura a firm that protects and monitors scammers and spammers, etc, etc. My bride of 61 years just cancelled our current firm, “Lifelock” and we purchased Aura for the same protection at a BIG savings. Thank you Podnuh!! JC🌵

Casey, every failure is an opportunity to learn something. This time the job wasn't really a failure as no one was hurt, everyone got to go home and no damage was done...that is a success! You can take the problems that arose as learning points though and grow in your skills and equipment. I think the best part was that as difficult as it was, you kept a positive attitude going for those around you and that (even if things are going wrong) instills confidence in those around you. There are no points taken off for everyone learning something. Good job done by all!
