On one hand, no, she did see her beliefs on pleasing her dad affecting her life and decided to no longer stick to that belief. What she could have done differently, was rekindle things with OP after she decided that, rather than doing so after she has done so. It was literally THE thing that shut the relationship. And I am 99% sure that OP would have taken her back the instant that was the case. As for OP, he should have communicated that her desire to please her father's wishes over her boyfriend's desires is going to tear them apart, and that they should talk about it. I understand if she wanted to wait because losing her virginity was a scary thought. But, its the fact that it seems like she just didnt want that type of relationship with him. And they were together for 3 years, its not like he was asking for sex within the first 2 months. I definitely didn't like how she was making seem like she was pressured into sex with Tim. There's a part that seems to be missed in this situation. She mentioned to him about other guys' successful careers, and op felt his ego being hit with those statements. He decides to break up, then focus on school, not being in another relationship, just wanted to focus realizing that b4 he could have intercourse with her, needed to think about his career himself so he could marry her to have sex with her (Which she would want to be approve of her father... gotta come back to this part) overall thinking about their future together. At this point, even though part of his reasoning was wrong, to open the gates to heaven. The other part was on the right track. There was the chance that she would cheat on him, while he was trying to focus, being convinced by the other guy to have sex with him and probably telling her that she could do better routine. He avoided this scenario, a broken heart, ruff times, etc, etc.... Now, the only reason why she wants him back now is because of her father issues of being shamed. So she would try to cover up her "sins."
