The mother is worse than her golden baby, for enabling his behavior for so long and, even after everything was said and done, still wanting to enable him after he was disowned. It took the threat of divorce and losing her own stability to stop. The father, on the other hand... it's sad that he took so long to realize what was wrong with his family, but boy did he make up for it and then some the moment he realized it. THAT was how the mother should've also acted. OP says he's "stubborn", but he's just a man with integrity who doesn't hesitate to do what is right.

Leaving Caleb $1 in the will is also the way to play it in those "cutting a person off" situations. My mom works in a law office and she says that if you straight up leave someone out of your will, sometimes they can play the "oh, they just forgot to put me in in the will!" card and try to contest it, but if you leave just a paltry amount for that specific person to get, it's admittance of, "no, I didn't forget you. It's the Mother who allowed it to continue and kept enabling the AH Brother. The Father, like every Dad is super busy at work to keep the family alive. So it's reasonable to see how he was late to realize everything. When the Father knew the truth he actually sided with OP like every reasonable person. And he did it every time when had to deal with the sons. From stopping the other bullies, to the AH Brother stealing money, to the cheating with OP's wife problem. Only the Mother was at fault for this.

The dad was partly to blame for taking so long to finally realize, but it was mainly the mom who should get full blame. Cuz as you can tell, even after being exposed to the truth, she still wanted to protect her "baby." She's still enabling him regardless of all the wrongdoings. And I agree with the cheating. Doing it once can possibly be forgiven, depending on the person. But once they do it a second time, that's it. Cut off. End it.

Stepping up and building a parental relationship with a child out of love is worth celebrating. It’s a far cry from finding out that the child you’ve been raising is the product of your partner’s infidelity, and does not have the inherent paternal tie you’d believed existed. Realizing that your role in that child’s life is based on a lie is a WOUND, and no one should be blamed for needing to step away and heal after it’s been dealt, even if healing means that the parental relationship is never reestablished.

I understand why you can't see that kid anymore though it's really sad for the kid. I doubt he'll ever see this but maybe he could set up a college fund for him at least he's contributing to the quality of his life even if he's not going to be able to be in it

It's funny how the flying monkeys are saying the original poster is cruel, yet the wife slept with his brother and he got her pregnant. He's not the father and he doesn't have to rise him, she made the mistake, hold her and the brother accountable not the original poster.

taking back a cheater, is just tacit approval that the only consequence to their infidelity is your acceptance of them being a cheater who can cheat on you.
