Jake your a legend. I'm an Ol Shool mechanic of 50+yrs and you pulling on a job like changing out the front diff and cv's without the expertise and proper equipment is a real achievement of which you should be extremely proud.💪 Well done young fella👌👍.

Mate I felt it so much at the end- that feeling of your wrists and triceps cramping from bench pressing from such an awkward angle- front diffs are the WORST. Giving you a driveway and a soccer mum car to run around in was the least I could do, especially while it was bloody raining here. PS: thanks for all the comments, I was wondering why people kept talking about it on my latest video 😂

Well done Jake. I take my hat off to you for tackling your own car repairs. I follow Harry and have done for a long time and it’s great having friends you can rely on for help. Keep up the good work. Hopefully your holiday to Vietnam has helped you relax and recover from the ordeal. Looking forward to more of your adventures.

Even though you broke a second cv it was most likely still cheaper doing it yourself and you now know your car better . Well done

Well done for not quitting and fixing the car yourself , Jake. Wifey and I did the Ningaloo coast and The Gibb 2 months ago, air con blower motor siezed, fixed with WD 40, lh cv boot split, replaced complete shaft in Broome, rear tyre blew just before Ellenbrae, 2 new tyres, and inverter shook it self to bits internally, found out at El Questro and had buy new one at Kunnara. From Derby all the way home to midwest NSW, we had this intermittent low creaking sound, I thought rear leaf springs probably needed a good clean, turns out rh bearing was shot.

Hi Jake, this is a lesson on the Darwin Awards. Three blocks of wood stacked sideways on a trolley jack is pretty sketchy. Yes you have the wheels under the car in case it falls off the jack but with that diff on your chest when it drops you will be a dead you tuber. I know you are in someones driveway doing an emergency repair but please be more careful.

Wow, a really good effort you two. The limits of an IFS vehicle are legendary and worse still most newish vehicles the front axles rotate all the time, even in two wheel drive. At least my new model DMax does, so I have seriously thought of addiing Free Wheeling Hubs to save those pissy little CV's. My old 2010 BT50 had a button to disengage the front drive assembly so the CV's did not rotate in 2WD.

I am absolutely no motor mechanic , but in the first minute of this blog I could tell you had a broken CV joint ,
@tallboy49Ай бұрын
That is why modern 4 wheel drives with cv joints are not good in rough conditions. The old solid axle would not have broken like that as they were tough. Cv joints might give better articulation but they are a weak point on the suspension.

Your a champion mate having a crack at whatever challenge presents itself. Well Done. But I recon this is your excuse to get a Landcruiser Troopy you have wanted mate. Blown CV's mate. Or a damaged CV Shaft from loading up under weight to much possibly. I'm not sure if your car has separate rear diff locks but they are handy when your front CV's are blown out. You can remove your front drive shaft to the front wheels so that the front 4wd cannot engage. Would have been more expensive mate if you got someone to do it for you.

Hi Lil and Jake I enjoy your vids but Please Jake don’t work on the car without jack stands, you can’t trust the jack for that, I did noticed you positioned your wheels under the car body but still that’s fine if you’re changing a tyre or brake pads but not if you are going to be lying under it with the diff on your chest or putting you head under there. Keep enjoying your travels. kind regards Craig 🤙
