I haven't had any babies my self yet (hopefully in the next few years though), and I have heard and read that if you except and allow your body to just do it's think and try not to fight them if makes labor so much better. But hearing that it's true it turns out some much better than what people who did the opposite of such during labor. Thank you so much!

Yeah, so true. I've had three unmedicated births and this is just so true. Don't fight it, relax, don't tense up and see the contractions as something positive that helps the baby out. And trust your body. Fingers crossed! It is a beautiful experience. :)

@@agustinaflores2512 Hey, thanks for asking. They gave me an IV, and strapped me down on the table. They then put numbing gel on my skin so I wouldn’t feel the cut, but they had to get the baby out and cut the umbilical cord before knocking me out because that medication is dangerous for baby. I felt it all and was screaming until they cut the cord, then the medication that put me under worked almost instantly!

My birth was EXACTLY how I planned it! I went unmedicated and it was the greatest decision I ever made, I felt EVERYTHING. Labor started at 11:40pm, I labored at home until 5am, got to the hospital at 5cm. Once admitted my body knew it was time to progress more and my water broke at 9am, 47 minutes later my son was born! Birth is such a beautiful and powerful event, my biggest piece of advice is to lean on Dakota and listen to your body! You got this mama ❤

As someone who delivered at a birth center attached to a hospital and then had a home birth the difference is night and day! Laboring in the comfort of your own home and then recovering in your own bed makes a world of difference. Every contraction and wave brings you closer to meeting your baby. You can do hard things and it will be SO worth it. I also fully agree with keeping it to just your birth team for the labor, delivery and golden hours. Let your family come visit when you get back home. Soak in those precious moments as you become your own family ❤️

This sounds so similar to how hospital births are here in Ireland! midwife almost always delivers the baby and medication is entirely optional and very much promoted as so,as well as the fact that many women don’t even stay a night in hospital and go home the same day with their baby, so excited and so lovely to hear you talk about your birth plan and such a positive and encouraging light ❤

My son was delivered via c section at exactly 36 weeks due to preventing stress, and with choleostasis, he was safer on the outside than on the inside. I'm 23 weeks with a baby girl and have a 95% chance of developing choleostasis again, but I'm really hoping I'm in the 5%.

I noticed that many major hospitals are making birthing centers attached to them now, which is awesome. I love the idea of a birthing center but personally would want the things a hospital can provide, so it's nice there are so many options out there so every person can choose! Touring and research are definitely important, I'm glad you found what you desired. My mom had a midwife at the hospital with me (her third baby) and said it was the best experience. She wishes she had one with my sisters. And that was 25 years ago, so it's awesome she got that even then (and in a relatively small town at best lol).

I appreciate that you reiterate the importance of doing your research and making informed decisions around birth. Thank you for modeling healthy decision making and advocating for yourself! It is amazing to see young women and families make the best choices for themselves. Obviously things vary A LOT State to State, but it is so important to do research and make informed decisions! You can find so many statistics on interventions and hospitals online to help make the best choice for you. Again, thanks for modeling healthy decision making and showing young families that they have power during birth! I had an unmedicated birth with a doula and amazing midwives in September. The best piece of advice I got from my doula was to ignore labor as long as possible. Try and rest, try and sleep and stay home! I didn’t end up going to the hospital until my water broke and baby arrived about 4 hours later. Sleeping through early labor was the greatest blessing!

L&D RN here, I love that you’re open to keeping an open mind. My question is, what are the plans if you’re GBS+? Most of the time antibiotics are given during labor to prevent baby from getting this specific bacteria and becoming infected. I support unmedicated deliveries, and doulas, just praying all goes well. Rest as much as possible before pushing. You’ll need that energy so that you minimize the amount of time pushing. As for baby, please make sure he’s latching great and call your doula to come help you before 48hours. It’s very easy for a failure to thrive if you wait for baby to wake up and tell you he’s hungry.

We were 10 days past my due date and I feel like I was more ready for my son to arrive than he was to leave my belly. I ended up having a c-section cause he was just comfy in there after 36 hours of labor and 10+ hours fully dialated with no progress. My midwife even rode in the ambulance with me to the hospital to turn over with their team. She was the best and so happy that she was with me since the beginning. My birth was still positive and wonderful experience. Hopefully, your birth is less eventful and everything you hope for ❤ You can do this!

I knew next to nothing about midwives when I had my first, only to befriend many new moms who went the midwife route and I had my 2nd and 3rd with a midwife. Only one was unmedicated because I was induced at 42 weeks with 1st and 2nd, but fortunately my midwife has hospital privileges so I was able to have her for #2's induction. It's worth noting that a lot of birth centers are very close to hospitals for easy transfer in case anything goes wrong.

I don't think people want to scare her out of it. Some people have had experiences (or know someone who has), that sheds light on out-of-hospital births that turned into emergencies that required hospital intervention. People (myself included), just want her to be safe for both her & baby boy...& learning about other people's experiences can be very informative.

I asked for a mirror so I could see the birth of my babies! I didn’t want to miss out & it was the most beautiful thing! It also helped me see how much I needed to push! 1 NICU baby, & 1 healthy baby later & I absolutely love giving birth!

I just want to put out there because I don’t see it, you can have an unmedicated birth at a hospital. I did with my first and plan on doing it again this time around. You can also choose your position if you advocate for yourself. Not everyone has access to birthing centers so I just want to let those mommas that don’t know that. Good luck! You got this!

I went unmedicated with my first and had a great experience! It actually wasn’t the plan but I labored so fast there wasn’t enough time to medicate by the time I asked lol. But now that I’m due with my second I’m planning on doing another unmedicated birth now that I’ve lived all the benefits of it. You got this!

Be mentally ready for everything. You have never given birth so you don't know how you will handle it and what you will need. I had my baby two months ago and the plan went out the window and ended in a emergency c section. In my situation my body would not dialate enough and it ended been a blessing because when they did the c section they realized how my baby was never gonna come out. He was in place but tilted and cord around his neck. Please make sure they have a monitor on you to track how baby is handling labor. Be safe and wish you guys the best. Remember the goal is a healthy baby and mama , it doesn't matter how the baby gets to your loving arms.

I’m so happy for the people who are able to give birth naturally and have a good experience! Unfortunately not everyone was “made” to give birth. In fact many women throughout history have died giving birth. There are many problems we face that NEED medical intervention. I went through a 100% natural birth and had complications that have completely changed my mind on how I want to have future births! Give me all the interventions! Sometimes you just have to go through the first one to really find your preferences. I wish I could give birth scott free like most of you! But everyone’s different and it’s okay to accept that.

My mom has had 4 children and we were all home birth children with a midwife. Such a good choice praying for an amazing delivery for you!

Absolutely go for it! I was exactly the same with my second pregnancy and I think manifesting and planning an unmedicated birth was a huge part of it happening the way it did. I didn’t even realize I was nearly fully dilated (in pain, but thought it was going to get much worse) until they checked my cervix at the hospital. The hardest part is when you’re a 10 and by then it’s almost over. Hoping all goes well!

dakota is gonna be the best dad!!! so sweet and making sure his focus is on you and your baby

Please let Dakota be super aware of what you want. He will probably need to advocate for you and the baby. My husband needed to advocate for my babies, and knowing what I wanted helped a lot with my two births.
@andreaa1659Ай бұрын
Why did he have to advocate for the baby? The health care professionals always want to do what’s best for the baby. I wonder what makes people think they know better than someone who studied this for years and has usually been doing it for even longer.

My two sons were born 10 weeks early, and he needed to be with them and advocate for them. My husband also advocated that i was in labour even though initial tests said i wasn't@andreaa1659

I just gave birth to my first in July at home and unmedicated. It was the most amazing experience ever! My best advice is to trust your body and to read the book Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth. You’ve got this!!!

Everything you presented here shocked me! You really did your research it sounds like, and you are making some really good decisions 💕 Dakota seems completely on board and included too, which is so important. God bless you both.

That is the greatest decision to do is not have anyone else besides you two and medical professionals in the delivery room. My husband and I made that choice and I couldn’t have been happier because it made our experience to be entering parenthood. I’m going to do that for our second as well.
@mautumn98Ай бұрын
Do it girl! Labor is a mind game if you can relax through the contractions and keep yourself from panicking you’ll do awesome. Take advantage of breaks between contractions.

I had an unmedicated hospital water birth with my first baby in May. It was the best decision for me! Trust your body but be willing to be flexible and know that it’s okay if things change. So excited for yall 💛
