It’s not rubbing now but I think it will once the lift settles a little and if you hit a speedbump or pothole it will hit in my opinion. I may sound stupid but that’s just what I’m guessing based off my experience off my 5 inch lifted 2018 F-150

Kenny Zaidner I'll be sure to update if there is any rubbing issues, normal driving it's good, but offroad I need to see if it's close or not.
@damado266 жыл бұрын
Yeah, usually if you're going to do any offroad, it's best to put the larger tires on before a lift so it's easier to see where you'll rub and can cut as needed. When you offroad, the suspension will compress even more than with no lift, so you'll rub even more than without any lift. Offset also has a lot to do with it. The more NEGATIVE offset, the more rubbing when close to or at full lock. Positive offset can help avoid rubbing, but you have to be careful not to hit the UCA. High caster can also help, but just a little. This is all unless you have a lift kit with travel limiters. But then people who get travel limiters aren't really into offroading. You want as much travel as possible offroad.

@BrosFOURRSpeed3 жыл бұрын
The wheels in this video had an 18x9 +10 offset with a 33x12.5 tire. My next set was 17x9 0 offset with a 285/70/17 and didn't have any rubbing until I added the 1.25' spacer. I had the spacers on for awhile until I went up to 34's. Spacers are ok if you do it right and calculate for the offset of the wheels so it's a good setup. With the -12 you have, you may have some slight trimming to do, but it shouldn't be anything crazy. Possibly the CMC maybe, but maybe not!

Bros FOURR Speed - Really? Here’s the formula; desired tire size x your gear ratio divided by original tire size = gear ratio needed. Obviously you’re not really wheeling off-road. What’s your MPG? what’s your RPM range at 70 mph?
@DMHal015 жыл бұрын
Bros FOURR Speed - pedal commander doesn’t fix the shifting issues related to the high gearing and adding big knobby tires and a lift throws the stock tune shift points out of wack.
@BrosFOURRSpeed5 жыл бұрын
@@DMHal01 I go offroading a good bit, and no issues. What's your experience in your tacoma? My mpg is around 18.5 and at 70mph I'm at 1700. A regear with 5.29 would put it at 2200. I have seen a difference in the shifting with the pedal commander depending on the setting I have it on, so it does help. I also don't have knobby tires either.
@DMHal015 жыл бұрын
Bros FOURR Speed - I’m at 700 ft ASL and maybe there’s a difference in altitude but I’m running 4.88 regear with 4.88 OVTune 2100 rpm at 70 mph with roughly 18 to 19 mpg if I’m mainly staying hwy but combined I’m mostly at 16 to 17 mpg. I’m running a 2” Dobinson’s strut and coil lift with a JBA adjustable UCA for caster, 285/75/R16 and I have a CBI T3 winch bumper and Smittybuilt X20 winch with synthetic line and Factor 55 recovery kit. On the hwy when approaching any grade above 3% it used to gear hunt. The regear changed it and I don’t gearhunt anymore so I’m mostly getting my mileage by avoiding that. Did they change something on your model? You’re not running 200 extra lbs on the front end and your aerodynamics is better with the factory bumper so I can see that. I have a 2017 TRD-OR with the TSB making it the 04B04 ECU tune. Whenever you go up in tire size it effectively changes the rear axle ratio so I’m baffled as to how you’re not seeing a slower off the line performance and bad MPG’s when you go up that much in tire size, ply rating, and no ECU reprogramming and gearing change.

@sethglenn90225 жыл бұрын
Its one thing to test for rub on a flat garage floor. But you will still have to do some trimming to prevent rubbing on uneven ground. You can get away with however little space you have at the control arm. But do not get rid of them or alignment will be nearly impossible. You can use the camber adjustment in the control arms to make more space between the tire and the UCA at the alignment shop. If you plan to use a spacer, get hub centric spacers, also consider longer wheels studs because the Toyota has short studs and you cant achieve proper thread engagement in the lug nuts. Truck looks great though. 22x12s would have been cooler 😏

You will be fine going down the road and turning unless there’s a bump or off camber turn. But you can always fix that with a heat gun and work the wheel well liners up front. If you’re doing a lot of off roaming they make cab mount cut kits for the backside of the front wheel wells.
@BrosFOURRSpeed6 жыл бұрын
I'll have to look into the CMC once I go off road and see if its needed, probably have to do it.

Looks great! I put 33’s on my Taco earlier this year and had to do some very minor trimming on the back side of the wheel wells. You looked excited once the alignment was done.
@BrosFOURRSpeed6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm pumped about it! No rubbing at all for normal driving. We'll see about hardcore off road. But worst case I might have some small trimming to do, which is no big deal. My 07 Tacoma rubbed a lot at full lock on flat ground with smaller tires. 3rd gen is set up great for this.

If you take a tight turn at some speed. (Mountain driving) the body roll will cause the tire to snag the uca. Highly recommend a small spacer. Your set up looks exactly like my first one and I had the same problem. Overall looks great!
@BrosFOURRSpeed6 жыл бұрын
Turner Suhler interesting. I’ll do some test to see if I run into that. I have almost 1/2 inch of clearance to the UCA, so I’ll see if it still clears

Do you feel a power loss because of the lift, wheels and tires? Thank you in advance for your response.
@BrosFOURRSpeed6 жыл бұрын
Dylan Galman So far it feels the same. I still get about 17mpg. I never really floor it so I don’t ever actually use all it’s power. But I’ll do some tests like flooring it on the highway to see if it feels sluggish
@DylanGalman6 жыл бұрын
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Interesting! Usually people say that gas trucks are sluggish after lift, wheels and tires. It's great to hear that yours still seems to maintain power. I appreciate your response! Congratulations on your upgrade by the way! I can't wait to do mine.

I'm guessing the tires will rub on the UCA's at full droop. You'd be wise to cycle the suspension through its entire range and turn the wheels to check for clearance issues before you go offroading. It would be a shame to chew up your tires or suspension components for lack of checking.
@BrosFOURRSpeed6 жыл бұрын
Yea I have checked everything and different angles, and offroad there is zero rubbing on uca or even the cab, so it's a perfect set up!

@Theyralltakenfu6 жыл бұрын
NO WAY would I drive that with that tiny bit of space near the wheel. The truck looks really nice, but I'm afraid that over time something is going to happen and you're going to pop a tire and lose quite a bit overall. Putting in a spacer isn't going to kill the look, just maybe make it safer in the long run. That's only my opinion.
