It's not so much the hit feedback so much as projectile recognition. The rest of the palette has hues of red in it, so making the projectiles black with a white and black corona would make them much more recognizable to the eye.

I agree, I also thought it was hard to tell which enemies were shooting esp. when they were piled up so you had very little time to even see the projectile anyway. Anyone else or just me?

@@EzekielHateable No, you're right. A swelling mechanic, like the little dudes sucking in air before they fired would do a lot towards "I should move out of the way of that"

Eh, if I get hit I get hit. I'd rather avoid said hit in the first place than have a better "oh I got hit" indicator, but that's just me. I do agree that like, a blood splatter across the screen at the edges to go along with the red would look better and be keeping in with the aesthetic.

Alright, this game is awesome. Honestly i didnt think it looked that good from the steam page but this video really sold me on it. cant wait for the full version now! Thanks Splat!
@milanstevic84242 жыл бұрын
That's interesting because the Steam page offers a video that is of the same quality as this one. I haven't noticed a single difference between the two. Did you mean to say that "it didn't look that good" because it lacked the pics of the menus, upgrades etc?
@milanstevic84242 жыл бұрын
@@Gandalf721 I get that the people are lacking the attention span, perhaps rightfully so, in today's gaming scene, but I'm very curious about what exactly is lacking on the Steam page. While yes, the developers may cherry pick the content offered on display, the opposite is also true (and the reasoning behind it is much more frequent): everything about the way the games are sold is made in such a way to cherry pick. It is actually really hard when you have to promote and market your game, because you're supposed to boil down a game that was in the making for months or (more typically) years, into an "elevator pitch" coupled with a short trailer that's expected to show only this and that, in line with how the whole of industry does it, exactly because of the ever-shortening attention span. But now that we can see that the game is decent, why do you think developers wouldn't want to deploy it in a manner that would surely only improve their sales? On top of that, the game is not only simplistic, but quite obviously a direct follower of Vampire Survivors (and visually The Binding of Isaac), or at least for me it's blindingly obvious what's in there (maybe I'm brilliant but I wouldn't bet on it). I simply expect it to be similar and IF I really want to see its gameplay, I will search for it on KZbin and chances are it's already there. Sometimes I wouldn't even have to type anything, copy pasting its title works just fine. But then, maybe this poster did exactly this, let's assume that, and while being grateful is a good thing and people should say 'thanks' to each other more often, I don't think a youtuber deserves 'thanks' for doing what's his main job essentially? Wouldn't you rather say 'thanks' to the developer who did a, well, erm, much more solid, much more harder and much more responsible job? The one that demands some technical knowledge, organizational skills, proper ability to design and make something, and at least in part, hiring of very expensive professionals? The youtuber, in the meantime, is playing games all day long, pretending to be working, so why flip everything upside down? How's the youtuber suddenly more reliable as an information source, unless you happen to know him/her personally, but then he/she doesn't have to be a youtuber, when a friend would suffice. My key argument would be: I don't really know who this youtuber works for (tbh I know because I follow Splat for many years now, but let's roll with it because that's the heart of your argument). On one hand, the developer wants to sell me a game on a platform that offers at least a money-back guarantee, and probably tries to show the best of the product to ease and reassure my purchase decision -- and this happens among many other eerily similar promotions on a platform that hoards thousands of games DAILY -- and on the other hand, there is some random person on the internet claiming the game is good or bad whose actual profit comes from my attention alone, and who doesn't actually care whether the game sells or not, and offers no guarantees whatsoever. He could, for example, cherry pick (or genuinely experience and share) only his bad experiences with the game, his views might be one-sided, and in the end many people wouldn't know that this wasn't quite representative or the way to play it. You also can't sue against that, there is no legal ground other than to forbid a youtuber, but that's an incredibly moot action. Maybe he just doesn't like the country the game is from, whatever, he can always subtly nudge your attention in ways you cannot even fathom. There is a reason why social network creators are called "influencers". Yes there are scams in this world, but if the product isn't a time-based service or a blind promise, but instead a very concrete end-product (and a video game almost always is, unless it's Star Citizen) it's also quite obvious when the scam is about to happen. So I am quite baffled why would you rather trust a random person, who is maybe profiteering from made-up controversies, or works for someone who profits from reviews and such, silently favoring a group X, the game Y, or a feature Z -- instead of the people at the center of it, who have actually designed and manufactured the game and delivered all of the nuance regarding it on the actual platform where it is sold? Thank you for the comment, btw. Please don't frame what I'm saying as an attempt to belittle your opinion or your approach to solving this "mystery," I am just genuinely curious and would like to understand the psychology behind it.
@kirkenstiensmonster2 жыл бұрын
@@milanstevic8424 Psychology behind what? The dude just did'nt think it looked that interesting on Steam but upon watching Splattercat play it changed their mind. @milanstevic84242 жыл бұрын
@@kirkenstiensmonster Welp, I am a professional developer/designer and an aspiring publisher, if that helps. I am also nearly half a century old, which is something. Why I wish to understand such things is probably none of your business. It is obviously way above you. Just like much of the psychology of the ordinary everyday life. Yes, you are free to merrily handwave the entire existence of human race as shallow as you possibly can, but because you're very rude and unhelpful, please go someplace else, where your ignorance is appreciated. "The dude just did'nt think it looked that interesting on Steam but upon watching Splattercat play it changed their mind" That doesn't explain anything and it's just your opinion. You cannot just slam that like that's a fact because Steam page is at least as informative than this haphazard video. What truly happened is that, for some weird reason, the developer's official page is less trustworthy than some random KZbinr, which is a really troublesome concept in already hectic world. You should read other people's sentences with more diligence, or simply don't answer with nonsense, while pretending to be a pundit.

I feel like they need to make ranged enemies more recognizable. Generally they show up and because their color is the same as 90% of the enemies, as well as their general shape looking like the chargers, you can't take notice of them quickly and dodge them effectively. Maybe making them yellow and or blink when they fire would be good.
