Brother HL L2340DW Replace Toner Error Quick Menu Bypass Fix

This is a quick fix to bypass the "Replace Toner" message on your printer. It will allow your printer to continue printing even though you have a low-toner message. It should allow you enough time to get some toner.

Many of the Brother models (like my MFC-L2713) will completely lock you out of ALL menus once it hits "Replace Toner". That makes it impossible to change this setting, hence the convoluted Toner Reset procedures needed to trick the machine into setting the toner counter to zero pages.

Cheers. I bought my printer 6 years ago and it gets light usage. The toner cartridge is still going strong, but the message had just popped up about replacing it. I bought an inexpensive replacement, but then found this video.. So I expect to get a few more months out of the original cartridge now thanks to this. 👍👍👍

Thanks a lot, Brent. This also worked on my Brother DCP-7055DN, with a slightly different series: "Menu" to "General Setup", "OK", up or down to "Replace Toner", OK, cursor till see "Stop". Cursor to "Continue", OK. Then printer should show "Accepted". Just did it, don't know yet if it worked- but expect it will.

Thank You. HL-L2350DW -- This printer is new to me. Unlike past experience with Brother, I have found the support website, and documentation, on line a downloadable, atrocious. I have had several Brother printers, but will consider other vendors for my next purchase.

Here's my steps. 1/ Do as this long winded video says for now. 2/ Go to a toner store on eBay, and buy a large bottle of Brother compatible toner. I'm in AU, and bought mine from Toner Stop. 3/ With a sharp drill bit approximately 6mm diameter, remove the cartridge when it is empty, and with slight pressure, SLOWLY drill a hole in the TOP end of the cartriage ie: hole facing up in the machine. You should get sprirals of plastic coming off the drill bit, not flakes. These flakes you do NOT want in your toner cartridge, as they can damage the drum, so make it a ckean drill hole. A vacuum might help, but I don't. 4/ It is recommended to expel any left over toner from the cartriage via the hole you just made, but don't worry about it. Concerning yourself over mixing different residual toners is pedantic. Place the nozzle into your drill hole gently, as you need a little bit of space for air to escape as you gently squeeze your new toner in. 5/ With a damp clean cloth, wipe down the cartriage to remove any toner dust. Do not breathe it! Wear a mask if you're not confident. Now place a strong Ducting tape over the hole, and seal it well by rubbing the tape to make it stick well. Your cartriage is now fuller than it ever was, and will take a few toner resets of the machine before it's empty again. Now --->>> 6/ With the cartriage in the machine, leave the door open. 7/ Turn off the machine with the power button. Whilst holding green go button, press the power button. User mode appears on the LCD display. Press go 9 times, then another 5 times. Regardless of whether you get a flash of the WiFi LED, after you close the front door, your machine toner level will be reset. Check toner status in Machine info menu. It should be all black bars showing full status. Remember Toner Low is a machine approximate cartridge replacement reminder. As in this video, always leave it on continue, rather than stop, and just keep resetting it, regardless if you filled the cartriage of not. You can give your toner cartiage a shake to hear (and feel) the power jumping around in it. Just keep resetting the dumb machine toner life. Out of one stock you-filled cartriage, you'll get a few toner level resets. Ecology off. Density -2. Depends on the job too. I've run desity -6 on toner heavy pages with ok results. Happy laser printing.

Many many thanks for this!!! Didn't expect to find this direct help for my printer. It is really strange to get such nonsense from a printer knowing that there is enough toner still inside, because previous page was completely fine. I found out that the 'kartuschen' of this printer have no sensor to tell when it is empty. Therefore the printer just counts the pages and guesses when it might be empty. But then such a printer shall display a clear message and directly the option to continue, IMHO.

I found this after a search: "Brother HL-L2365DW Toner Counter Reset - TN2345". This worked for me, AFTER I replaced the cartridge. and I kept getting a"toner low" message. 1 Open the front cover and leave open while completing the following steps. 2 Turn the printer off. 3 Hold the ‘go’ button while turning the printer on. 4 After 3 seconds release the ‘go’ button. 5 (USER MODE) will appear. 6 Press the ‘go’ button NINE times. 7 The Wifi led will flash once. 8 Press the ‘go’ button 5 times. 9 Close the cover. Your toner is now reset

The following series just worked on my Brother HL-L2395DW: Press tool icon (wrench plus screwdriver), then with up/down arrows go to "All Settings", to "General Settings, to "Replace toner", change to "Stop", press House button on printer. On Mac, I then had to rechoose my printer under System Preferences, and then press "Resume" when I checked its printing status. Then waiting pages printed! So now can print while waiting for the replacement toner I ordered.

You have made a mistake. Changing that setting to "Stop" will cause the printer to STOP, and block you from printing until you replace the toner. You need to change it from "Stop" (default) to "Continue", so that the printer will CONTINUE to print while the "replace toner" message is displayed.
