I love both, but if I could only choose one, I'd go with the 525

Appreciate your honesty. I was looking for a 725, but I will check out the 525. Excellent review.

Hard to choose between these two , both lovely guns . Personally , I prefer a straighter stock like the 725 . I currently have a Citori White Lightning , it's hard to imagine anything better , but that 725 almost sings to me . There are only two kinds of shotgun in this world ,there are Brownings and then there's everything else . [ except for "Best" guns of course ] .

Nice review of the two guns, I bought my first new B525 last year and couldn't be without it. Mainly use it for walked up shooting as well as crow's and pigeons, it's a fabulous gun. To pick it up certainly feels like home. Because home always feels good!

It’s all Personal Preference!!! I bought the 725 “Pro” Sporting and have had buyers remorse ever since. Personally I think the Italian guns are more refined and just feel nicer than Browning’s. I tried out and shot over 20 guns before narrowing it down to 4 guns, B725, B-692, Fabarm Elos N2, and Caesar Guerini Summit Ascent. I should have bought a Caesar Guerini instead. Even the Fabarm is “More Gun for the Money,”

I had a 525 sporter, now I have a 725 sporter, there is no comparison, I am not a gun expert, but the 725 has many changes, I won’t be getting rid of it for a long time.. anyone who says a Beretta silver pigeon sporter is better, has never owned a 725.

I just bought a 725 Field today. Since I’ve never owned an O/U (I’ve shot a white lighting a few times) I’m hoping that my first real experience with O/U being a 725 will carve a mold of what an O/U should feel like. Similar to how you grew up shooting the 525, shooting something different seems a bit off to you. One of my main draws to the 725 was the mech trigger system. I’ve lost birds from dead rounds and couldn’t get the 2nd shot off. But either way, it’s a Browning! Great video mate!

I run a 525 sporter. If that 1st shot miss fires, all you have to do is give the butt pad a firm bump. Not clear to the ground like he showed in the video. The 725 has been showing some problems with broken firing pins and hammer issues. I hope you got one of the good ones.
@ImageLoX6 жыл бұрын
dickidydoodah I’d lose the bird by the time I “bump” the pad. But that’s good to know. As for the firing pin, my gun shop is a browning dealer and 5 minutes away so they’ll take good care of me. Thanks for the info 👍

Great review. Own a 525 sporter and a 725 trap... both are fantastic guns and feel great in the hands. Hard to beat the value and reliability of the Browning.

Another good review John. I agree with you on all aspects especially the feel of the pre-725 Brownings and the engraving. Browning really needs to do much better even if it simple classic engraving.

I like the difference in the B725 as a over-under. The Super Light would be my choice. It is a new slimmer and sleek receiver and is great for a lighter shotgun. I have no over-under so not jaded to the older Browning 525 model.

Hi John and thanks for the review. Do you have any comment about the shot patters created by the new chocks in the B725?

Don't pay attention to your chokes if you hit it you hit it. If you want to see real change in performance look at the cartridge

Hello. Is there any difference between 525 old versions and with new backbore barrels on hunt?
@wasachevyguy3 жыл бұрын
It’s a shame that you don’t have the Citori CX series in the UK. I’d love to see you review them. Also, I’m wondering if our White Lightning models are the equivalent to your 525. They have a deeper action and an overall heavier weight with inertia triggers.

I have a 725 hunter. Very happy with it, has not skipped a beat, feels sleek when compared to friends 525 or 325. Clearly no real point sales wise making the new 725 exactly the same as the 525, nobody would buy it - especially if you already own a 525. You can still buy a 525 new and there are loads available second hand.
@rramramirez93237 жыл бұрын
Nathan Ellis , Hello Nathan do you know where a new 525 can be found in the U.S. I have a Citori that's 30 years old and has been and still is a fantastic shotgun but it's a 26" Field. My shooting transitioned more from quail hunting to doves and clays thus was looking for a Browning with 30" barrels. The 725 is sleek and technically speaking should be a better choice but like John states the 525 looks and feels like a shotgun. I did a lot of research, maybe looking in the wrong places and couldn't find a 525. I even tried to locate a 725 Field model in a 30" and ended up with a 725 Sporting model. If you are in the U.S. appreciate a reply.

Never shot the 725. But I do have 2 525’s in 28ga and .410 sporting clay guns. They are awesome. Once you shoot the 28 and .410 you no longer want to shoot a 12ga.

Ive got a 525 hunter light advance its 2.9 kg and at 25+ grams it kicks like a mule i am intrigued by benelli 828u should i pull the trigger on one or its going to be the same thing
@alecingram46697 жыл бұрын
stathisko1 benelli 828u’s are literally the lightest shotgun you’ll ever shoot, however they have a great recoil compensation system in the stock. Depends on the load. I currently usually shoot sporting or Olympic skeet and trap so use 24 gram for skeet and trap and 28 gram for sporting, and heavier loads than that for game. I have a Browning 425. I find mine doesn’t kick much because I don’t shoot over 28 gram unless I’m hunting. Maybe change the load you use to a lighter one?
@Stathis107 жыл бұрын
That Shooting Guy thank for the reply man i have it mainly for hunting but i would like to take it to the range without bruising my shoulder. I would like to shoot between 25-30 grams is the benelli up to it or should i go for a sporter
@alecingram46697 жыл бұрын
stathisko1 go for a sporter if you shoot more clays, and yes, the benelli is a great gun that swings well but the recoil system in the stock is really nice and comfortable. If you can walk around all day on a hunt with a heavier gun then get a something like a 725 sporter but the benelli is good for both because of its lightness but it's great for clays too, so yeah, id say as long as you're comfortable with it and it's fits you go and see the benelli. Ps, when you first hold one it's like it's from outer space it looks so different!
@kuffs066 жыл бұрын
I've shot the 828 many times and didn't like it. It kicked harder than anything else I've ever shot. Great gun to hunt with but will kill you if you soot it at the range for the day
@gadgethunter57324 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of the mechanical trigger on the 725, but I will never buy one. Why not? Cuz all my pretty Diana grade choke tubes only fit the Invector Plus barrels. And the old Citori Lighting is still smoking em. Ok , so maybe that was only a chip. Certainly NOT the fault of the choke tube. Only driver error.

Had a 525 up till this summer, loved it great gun. I found it just a little bit heavy for rough shooting (ireland) when you are out for 5 to 6 hrs carrying it and have two dogs with yea but it wasn't a major problem. I had to get the firing pins changed on mine after about 1000 shells as there was pitting on the end of them. Other than that they are a fantastic gun am sorry I got rid of it.
@hypegamergig17857 жыл бұрын
Firing pins on my Browning 525 started to get pitted after 300 shots. Specially under one. So only 150 shots per each barrel 😥. Had to polish firing pin a bit. Why Browning can not cure this chronic problem still remains a question to me. My concern is not the quality of firing pin, my concern is if they use crap steel in such important piece of mechanism, then I really do not want to imagine what steel other parts are made of.

is this an issue in the newer 725's as well?
