It's a awesome song. Until this moment I had no idea what the song was about but of course I should have known. For anybody who cares it's about Bowie's famous Ziggy Stardust persona breaking character. Bowie is saying in that song that he created this person and even though he's been his old self this whole time he "sold the world" that he was someone else.

Kurt Cobain obviously got it. Anyone who got really famous would get this song but to average people it's just incomprehensible. I wonder if sociopaths would get it because they try to sell the world and probably think they do a fine job (even though they are obviously fake as hell) that they are happy and filled with emotion.
