The kids are, or should be, the focus, so there is no reason for teachers to talk about themselves. Only a self-obsessed person would want to do that. Two of our 6th grade teachers were having an affair and a few of us saw them kissing in a car and it imprinted so hardcore on me. Teachers are in such an important position of being examples for children, I don’t get how these unhinged people are allowed to get away with this $hit.

Preaching to kids is such a creepy form of manipulation. It doesn't matter if it's religion, or some other ideology being preached. It shouldn't be happening in public schools at all. Schools should be inspiring kids to learn how to use their minds, and think for themselves.

Omg, Tori, your HAIR. It's gorgeous! I'm here for it. Okay, so, I've said this on a prior video but it totally blows my mind that it's suddenly considered normal for teachers to discuss their sexuality, partners and private lives with their students. When I was young, I think first grade, I saw my teacher at the mall one weekend. She was with her husband and her children and I was BLOWN AWAY that she had a life outside of school, lol. Then, later in high school, I had two gay teachers. No one talked about it. No one cared! They literally just lived their lives and didn't discuss their personal, private lives with us. The only time it was ever even mentioned was one of my teachers, her wife was having major surgery and she told us she'd be out for a week. We were all just like, "oh man, surgery can be tough. We all hope she gets well ASAP and can't wait for you to be back". That's the most personal I ever had a teacher be. I can't imagine walking into biology class on the first day and having the teacher be like, "okay, here's my flags that represent my sexuality. Let's discuss that!".

It respects them but isn't doing the most when it comes to kids. And trust me, high school kids talk about anything and everything, that's a perfectly appropriate time to teach kids. Any younger isn't really necessary.

The issue is never really the issue. The issue is always the revolution...They have to break the innocence of childhood & traditional values in order to replace it with the real end goal; adults with children 😈
@tyturner71109 ай бұрын
Unchecked “Traditional Values” would have grown men legally marrying underage girls with parental consent. An unregulated capitalist society would gladly rob the youth of a childhood and throw into a factory/mine/fast food drive thru if it thought it would increase profits. All systems and ideologies have to be constantly monitored. Let’s have some nuance so we don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Because plenty of “traditional, conservative, family men” have been caught up in scandals involving children.

I told him some girls like girls, some boys like boys, and sometimes ppl like both. It is what it is. He said...Oh. ok... end of conversation. Much love. 💖🙌 I appreciate that you highlighted the way these adult individuals are behaving infantile while directly engaging with children! I think this is why they do not have proper boundaries with children, because they themselves are mentally and emotionally immature. So many kids feel awkward and embarrassed when sex education is taught as being a young teen is an awkward time. I also wonder if they spend as much time talking about how great it is to be straight 'cis' people.

You probably would be told you are a trans boy and be encouraged to have a double mastectomy with male hormones. I am a uni professor and my students have no idea about my sexuality because it's completely irrelevant to my actual job... The only thing I share up front with them is that I am a diagnosed autistic adult, so I might think and talk a bit different. And, in my experience, that helped with other neurodivergent pupils - they usually feel more confident around me. Not talking about my sexuality in any way has never prevented me from having an open mind and excellent relationship with the students who feel the need to share their personal experiences with me during class *in a relevant topic*. So I really don't understand why teachers of kids and teens feel the need to disclose their private lives at school. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. Thank you Buck and Tori for another great video with a lot of food for thought.

I want to express my gratitude to both of you for this video, and especially to you, Tori. I am a mother of seven children, ranging in age from 34 to 12, and a grandmother of seven. I would be extremely uncomfortable if I were to walk into my child's classroom, as I often do, and hear their teacher discussing their sexual orientation. It is not appropriate for a teacher to have such discussions with their students, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. Just as it would not be acceptable for a heterosexual non-trans person to discuss personal matters related to their body or intimate life with their students, it is equally inappropriate for any teacher to do so, regardless of the students' ages.

I'm a school bus driver. A little girl on my bus was asking me about a news story about a little girl who gave birth. So she asked me if the little girl had had sex or how she managed to get pregnant. I told her that she could ask her mom or dad if she had questions about it.. Because it's not my place to talk to children about sex. Not my sex life. Not their parents sex life. Not sex in the news. Nothing about your sexuality belongs in school, especially elementary school.
