BUICK 455 OIL PUMP REBUILD!

I rebuild the oil pump on Carmens 455 Big Block! New wear plate/booster plate, gears, adjustable oil pressure regulator and gaskets. The goal is to get a new wear surface for the pump gears and get oil pressure at idle. One thing to remember, anytime you pull your distributor always put your engine on TOP DEAD CENTER! Just found you. Just subscribed. What caught my attention is Carmen Electra. Followed those vids up to your debut at Cleetus’ burn out pit. Your enthusiasm while you were in line to take a crack at smokin some rubber was palpable! Really like what you do. You show your successes, failures and the turn-around. Excellent. Two years ago picked up a ‘70 Buick Electra 225 Custom four door sedan w/ 74,500 miles on the clock. All original, she’s a good 20 footer. Any closer than that and you can tell her age. I really like the big cars from ‘60s and ‘70s. Grew up in that era so, yeah. Thanks for your tips on the Buick. Can’t say mine will ever be doing burnouts. But, like I said, love your content. Looking foward to going thru the rest of your content. One day may see you at one of the car cruise, drag and drive, Cleetus’ events somewhere sometime someplace. Keep the greasy side down mate.

AWESOME GLAD YOU FOUND US AND ENJOY THE CONTENT! you don't have to beat on yours you can just watch me 😆 It's crazy intense every time as stupid as it seems. Adrenaline rush to the max and I love it! I have tons of content ideas and plans for the 455 and Carmen along with other stuff. I wish my 455 was a 70 with the better compression then we could really step it up but im stuck working with 8:5-1. I'm going to be making a bunch of content this winter going to a stage 1 with it. cam , intake, carb swap and getting the heads cut to stage 1 valves. If you see us at an event definitely stop and chat!

I'm having a ticking issue on my 72 electra. Glad I found this video. My car was in Oregon sitting forever. Now that it's enjoying California sun, I want to do as much as I can to make it run good as new.

this helped a lot! i have a buick 350 thats starting to take a while to build pressure when its cold. only 30k on the rebuild and who knows how many decades on the pump so im suspecting that. thanks for all the great info.

All Buick v6 3.2L all v8 455 350 oil pump do the same thing after about 80.000 will need a heavy output pump

Your right these oil systems are a known issue. I recommend the adjustable oil regulator from T/A performance instead of a high preasure pump. It's easy to install and doesn't require the pump being removed, it is fully adjustable and doesn't put excessive load on the cam distributor gear. the high preasure pumps have been known to break cam shafts because the distributor/ oil pump drive gear sticks out the front of the block and doesn't have a bearing to support it. Hay you're oil pump no good !! The ⚙ gear shaft on the left should not pull out,not good it will throw out the shiming in it .hope it works

luckily we've had no issues with our pump after multiple burnout sessions. fingers 🤞 it continues to hold up cause we are putting it to work! STAGE 1 BUILD IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY! turn on your notifications so you don't miss the action Terry. Its about to get crazy 🏁🏁😎
