Great guide for first time foam users, I was wondering is there any way to make it super hard or tough, I made my previous armour pieces from thick card and fiberglass the item to make it tough, is it possible to fiberglass foam? Coz it seems alot faster to make item from foam than folding card.

Sealing is to give the foam a surface to pain on. Otherwise, the paint will absorb into the foam and it’ll look flat. I have no clue what you’re referring to.

Stealth, after seeing the awesome job you did in this video I'm convinced you'd be THE guy to cosplay as DC Comics' The Guardian (Google image search the "New 52 version"). His helmet is remarkably similar to the helmet you created and you'd have a ball recreating his body armor and shield, considering how much you went into beast mode on the ODST armor. Great job, man. I'm inspired 🙂👍!!!

Check out the revamped look of his original Jack Kirby design that DC gave him from the New 52, it was WAY more tactical in its appearance (and his shield was upsized to full-on riot police dimensions now that I think about it), and I'm telling you brother with your skills in both pepakura files and foam assembly you would be awesome as DC's Supercop. But only if The Heroes Workshop takes suggestions of course...🙏

I absolutely love the video. It is very helpful thank you! I do have two questions! 1. Is the helmet still flex able? If so how do you stiffen it? 2. With it being fully enclosed, Is there a way to add small air holes into it so you won't sweat so much! Like around the ears, forehead, and the top of your head! I thought about using and making small suing needle holes hidden in the semis to at least get some air!

It’s foam so I wouldn’t strengthen it. You want it to be fitted and still be able to slide on and off easily. It’ll be tough if it’s rigid. So I don’t do that. You can make air holes some where If you want

57:35 I couldn't achieve this during a small test build ended up using a belt sander with plenty of ventilation. My foam would compress and avoid the blade. Thoughts? 1:46:15 forgot to add mixer to the list of materials :P

The blade is either too dull or foam is too soft. Make sure you keep the blade sharp and use a more dense foam. I’ll add the mixer. Thanks for reminding me.

I have a practical question, ive been trying to get into sewing and 'foamsmithing' for a while, and i want to make something like the helldiver armour. Im new to the hobby but working with my hands like this is my forte, always was, so how long could a project like making the B01 armor take, excluding the helmet?

Depends how fast you pick up the concept of pepakura and foam. I suggest doing the helmet from the beginner tutorial. Alot of it is being able to trouble shoot with common sense.

I to some extent understand that, most of how to manipulate the material i think i understand fairly well, what degrees you need for what bevels intimidate me, however. Cutting it out. Shaping it and connecting it makes oerfect sense to me though. In my head im picturing it taking anywhere from 60-120 hours to make the whole set, from printing to painting, but i dont really have a concept of it since i havent tried it before

The personal project I’m working on would have to require it for me to show how I tackle it. There are lots of videos on how to use servos and such on KZbin. Probably better to consult those. You’ll be ahead of the game that way.

Pepakura will run on Linux using WINE or PLayOn Linux. Toothpaste is another option for masking, not the gel stuff. Great tutorial. The link for the helmet file seems to be down.

Say you have the file of the whole armor, can you somehow separate them (arms/ legs, helmet etc) so that you can scale them? As I don't know how else would I be able to scale it.

That would need to be done in a 3D modeling program and then reimported into Pepakura and re unfolded. I’m unable to explain that process here in detail. Good luck

How tall are you? Because that would be very useful info seeing as all your cosplays are probably built for your height.

They fit me well because I do the work of scaling every part to my limb size. Height is irrelevant and not everyone that’s the same height has the same limb length. Don’t use that logic. It’s super flawed. I explain this in the scaling section. Please watch the video.

im newer to cosplay and pepakura, and I've got a halo jorge helmet template, but one of the pieces doesn't look possible to do in foam like the seller said when I bought the template. What are your suggestions?

I’m not sure where you got your file from but sometimes you have to be creative with foam and make parts work in some way. I created this whole Pepakura to foam building system. So it was never meant for foam building but I made it work. So you can’t really limit yourself to the template. It’s not building by numbers like the program is designed for with paper. I apologize if that’s not much of an answer but It really is about being creative and modifying when you need to.

I’ve tried loading pepakura from their website but immediately my pc quarantines it saying it has a virus. Has anyone else had this happen?

I don’t think it’s saying it has a virus. It’s saying it doesn’t recognize the developer. It’s a safe program. Reread what the actual pop up says. That’s normal due to the software utilizing a .pdo file type that’s not recognized by windows and only Pepakura software.
