The idea of putting four together to figure out the pressing is brilliant. Never thought about it. Thanks!

The two quilts that you showed behind you - are my type of scrap quilts - to me they are pretty! I've made some like these with different sizes.

Thank you for showing how to determine which way to sew seams. Your explanation cleared it up so well. Your on point scrap quilt is very nice but I agree with you that Linda's version is just awesome! For some reason, for me, jelly rolls have taken the authenticity out of 2.5 inch "scrap squares or strings" used in quilts. The first thing I do is check the size squares or strings in a pattern or quilt. Linda's use of the smaller squares seems more cohesive and authentic. Maybe I could use a better word than authentic but I can't think of one right now. I don't mean to insult anyone's choices, it's my opinion. Just put me in the jellyroll snob category! Not really, I have several myself. I love that you sometimes change the sizes from some quilt patterns using the 2.5 inch pieces to smaller sizes. Here's a throw back for you, "keep on keeping on" because you're a great teacher! Thank you!

I love the two quilts behind you. I’ve been saving some 2-1/2” squares - now I know I definitely need to save more. All these years of quilting and tossing smaller pieces away is now giving me a stomach ache. Who knew ? 🤷‍♀️

I learn so much from your videos! And Linda's quilt is fabulous - I'm going to make that one! I like that I don't have to worry about sticking to a certain colorway - just grab all the scraps!

Thanks so much for pressing directions! Please give some examples with flying geese points and star points sometime. Just finished a sampler quilt from a magazine...lots of geese and followed pressing directions given...still had problems pressing flat. Thanks for any suggestions!

Love the scrap quilt behind you that isn't set on point, just beautiful. Are the blocks framed in black and green? It is hard to tell the colors on KZbin videos. ❤

Thank you for another great video. I love that scrappy quilt. I don't care for the upper left section of the Boston Commons quilt in that the doughnut over doughnut looks like a mistake in block placement. It just throws off my eye on the entire quilt.
@theopinionatedquilter
@theopinionatedquilter Жыл бұрын
Those pieces were not sewn together. The doughnut is over the blue marble. Sometimes the strip shifts on the table but it is pieced correctly.

Thank you for another great video. I just wanted to ask if you ever spin your seams when making blocks?

Ever, yes. Often, not so much. Usually I nest or press open.

I wondered the same thing. I've been doing that on a quilt from an old pattern. I don't think they did that much. It has really helped me get things flatter. It looks like the Opinionated Quilter doesn't do that much. I'm a newer quilter and my seams aren't very even. Maybe when they are better I can press open and get the same result like she does!

It looks like there's a mistake or I don't know up close in the yellow on both sides It looks like you have to many yellows together and one without black in there. I'm not trying to criticize

It does look like a mistake. One of the strips is not in the correct place on the table. When it is sewn to the strips above and below it will be in the right place as it is pieced correctly. You have a good eye. I didn't know if viewers would notice the strip had shifted on the table.

The very top left of your Boston Commons is misaligned.

The strip is off on the table. It is pieced correctly so when it is sewed to its adjoining strips it will be correct.
