Thank you for this excellent, soothing and relaxing Guided Relaxation. It was just enough for complete relaxation, especially with the words you used and your voice too.

This video has been such a God send to me. My husband recently passed from pancreatic cancer and this video has helped me go back to sleep so many times I’ve lost count. I feel like breathing can solve so many problems. Right now I am traumatized from my husbands passing and my nervous system is shot. What buteyko breathing exercises do you think would help me most ? Thank you!

I read of breathing techniques by Russians that would help with insomnia if you held your breath for a certain amount of time. I couldn't find a guide on how to do it properly so tried to do it myself but I developed some type of anemia so I stopped and the anemia went away. I think I held my breath for too long during the day. Thank goodness for guides like you.

Yes it's really important to be gentle with any kind of breathing exercise. And muscle relaxation is the most gentle way of softening and slowing the breath 👍

What kind of anemia was that?! I had no idea incorrect breathing could induce anemia..

Dear @clowm6507, just a Ukrainian technique as Konstantin Buteyko (1923-2003), was a Ukrainian pulmonologist and creator of the Buteyko method for treatment of breathing disorders!

Thank you for the video! I'm missing a Buteyko breathing guidance (inhales, exhales, breath holding), only "breathe through your nose". How many counts I should breathe in, hold it, breathe out, hold it etc. ? Or did you explain it and I slept through it? 😉
@thebuteykomethod

Hey @leami6495, thank you! So this exercise is just focused on relaxation. Relaxing the body, particularly our breathing muscles, helps us breathe less air. This subtle change shifts our body chemistry into an optimal state, enhances oxygen delivery, and reprograms our breathing to be consistently calmer and slower - unlocking significant health benefits 24/7. If you would like something more directly focused on breathing with specific breathing timings, then try this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3yWlql4htCYe7c

This is yoga nidra a very ancient technique (was most likely around before yoga was even around )

Yes it's a bit of a fusion of yoga nidra and passive muscle relaxation, and is also Buteyko informed. 🙏

Hi there, ever since recovering from COVID, my nervous system has been quite unsettled. I constantly feel on edge, and in the first year, I was waking up four hours later than usual. While I've managed to sleep on some days, it remains a significant issue for me. Warm temperatures during the night are especially problematic, as they can trigger moments of terror, leading to sleeplessness for about two hours. Additionally, it seems like I may be aging at an accelerated pace. Although I've found some relief through vagal tone exercises, the underlying problem persists. I'm concerned that my nervous system has permanently changed, and I'm aging faster than before. what happened to me ? do you know people like me and recovered?
@thebuteykomethod
@thebuteykomethod Жыл бұрын
Firstly, thank you so much for sharing your experience. I also experienced all the symptoms you are describing. I resorted to sleeping on the floor for a while on a yoga mat under a thin blanket to help manage temperature. But yes your nervous system will recover, it may take time and it is a non-linear journey. Go gently, listen to what your body needs, and focus on the 1% gains rather than looking for the silver bullet. If you need any support, I offer group courses and 1-2-1 coaching for Long Covid Recovery here: www.thebuteykomethod.com/

I have POTS from hEDS but because I’m in the POTS community I know other people are getting it from long COVID. I haven’t had Covid. You can Google Postural Orthostatic Tachychardia Syndrome for more info. There’s a test you can do at home called a Poor Man’s Tilt Table you can look up as well. Good luck

I have tried something like this in yoga, so many times over the years, and my mind starts to wander every freaking time. I recently got adhd diagnosis and it kinda explains why meditating is so difficult for me. Do you have any advice for neurodivergent people like me?

Wim Hof breathing can mess you up and give you tinnitus. It creates a large imbalance between co2 and oxygen. Breathing should be a gentle practice without much effort.
