God bless Remedy and Sam Lake for this absolute MASTERPIECE. From having a full blown musical in the game, to also having a 15 minute long horror short-film, to then furthering the boundaries of visual fidelity on PC with Path Tracing, this is a must play on anything.

Oh you finally reviewed this game! I told you it's much better than the first game. Glad you enjoyed it as much as you did :)

I really liked the first Alan Wake, and although AW2 certainly has a lot of compelling, stylistic visuals, AW2 never quite grabbed me. For me, the music video probably had the opposite of its intended effect and sort of turned me off to the game, as did the elevated hype that surrounded the title. I might give it a whirl once it is substantially discounted. But, I can tell you definitely enjoyed the ride just going by your excellent writing and narration on this review -- cheers Mason Scale, for another excellent video!

I do admit the show was off putting until I realised it was being done for me, then it became this grand display trying to mess with me further.

i was torn apart, while playing alan wake 2. i loved it. at the same time, i was missing something, and couldnt define what it was for a very long time. the first one is one of my fav games of all time. i am a huge stephen king fan. i am a huge fan of this twin peakesque kind of storys....the setting of a small town, the weird people, something dark and sinister behind the curtains. while the second game is MORE of everything, i felt and loved it much less than the first one. it has a higher budget, it was more horror (the first one wasnt a horror game at all, if one is honest,it just had a horror setting) it is longer and and and. but it lost the magic the first one has, imo. i dont know. it just never took me by the hand to walked me into the great places of my imagination and feelings. it felt....i dont know... different... and strange in a way. i described the first alan wake always as a playable stephen king novel in twin peaks, because thats how it always felt for me. the second one just misses something, while still being a fucking awesome video game, i had a great time with, and which i strongly recommend to everyone and i cant wait to play the third installment. i dont know man, maybe i am just getting old and cant be enchanted that easy any more, but i dont think so. i think the game is to big now to have a profound soul.....and thats ok... it has other qualitys. but i prefer the first one. i will always prefer soul over polish and bling bling.

I have to admit, I didn't like either of them to begin with. I played the second one first because it was claimed to be more of a horror game, but didn't really like it because i didn't understand half of what the game was talking about. But then I went back to try the first the first game and just generally didn't enjoy it too much, it wasn't bad but felt very repetitive and didn't really do anything for me. Then I went back to the second game and it all just clicked, all of the references I now understood and characters and everything made sense to me, I got it. I still don't really like the first game but I'm in awe of the second.

@@HorrorReview haha, how experiences can differ. but it was fucking bold to play AW 2 without knowing the first one. even if you played the first one, its a complicated, messy mindfuck. can imagine the question marks on your first playthrough haha. one must give props to Remedy just because they sure as hell are not afraid to try new things and go completly nuts with the storys and charakters they create. every gamer should support developer like this. they are keeping the creativity and boldness alive in the industry. i am glad that you finally found your way into the franchise. Remedy is one of a kind! thanks for the awesome review (as almost always^^). it suprised me it got every single Harry, but i love it that it did :D

So I played the first game and It was boring after 30 minutes in. Then it became frustrating, but I suffered through it eventually with no desire to ever touching it again. That said from this and other reviews the 2nd installment looks intriguing
@HorrorReviewАй бұрын
I didn't really like the first game very much either, but from my opinion, you really need to play the first to appreciate the second.

so glad you finally got around to reviewing this. Alan Wake 2 is one of my favorite games of all time for a lot of the reasons you captured. it's interactive theater and really draws the player into its multiple, spiraling narratives. it's not nearly as scary as some other horror games, but a lot of its story implications and ideas sit with you for far longer. this is the ritual to lead you on...

Laughted at the ending, gotta say!!!! Still haven't played it, but surely I will, eventualy.... looks like an incredible game

Alan Wake 2 was one of my favorite trippy horror games last year & was a really fun playthrough between the two protagonists.. i need to do a NG+ run to see the new content and expanded ending also.. 😅
