the later gens become almost impossible to do a one mon challenge, because the way the average exp gained is sort of different in early gens, you've got to level all 6 mons seperately, and that's taken into account - the amount of sort of average exp you're expected to get would be 6X higher with a single mon, therefore these single mon challenges aren't all that challenging, other than you're kinda stuck with what you've got. however later on (not sure if B/W2 is one) exp share is party wide, so they can more accurately sort of guesstimate your levels, and plan accordingly - it's why some later pokemon games are a bit harder, and there's generally less fighting - viridian forest is an early area with like 5 trainers usually, and a buttload of random encounters, as well as just being larger in general - meanwhile sun/moon has the school area, also with 5 trainers, but a lot smaller, and most of it not being random encounter areas. it's far harder of a challenge to do a solo run there, because being a little overpowered is basically the only way these runs don't turn into 'and after every fight i used the pokecenter' sort of stuff.

Huh, didn’t know the premiers came up this early. Anyway, he can probably do it, double team is still a tm in this game, but he’ll probably have some problems with Surge, Erica and the rivals venasaur if he replaced squirtle with Omanyte. As for future challenges, I’ve got 1 mainline Pokemon challenge and 2 mystery dungeon challenges (with DX coming out next week, I though it was appropriate) Pokemon emerald using only magcargo: a slow Pokemon that’s 4x weak to both ground and water in a game where the evil team leaders have a water and ground type as their signature Pokemon and both the 8th gym and champion both use water types. You’d need a lot of luck to get this one done even with double team. Pokemon mystery dungeon (take your pick on which one) without using any items. No elixirs, no food, no reviver seeds, no orbs, nothing. Pokemon mystery dungeon without using any moves: use either the standard A attack or items.

Those mystery dungeon challenges seem brutal, the final dungeon on red/blue rescue team are so long that you would need to get very lucky to make it out without at least one apple. As for explorers it seems way more realistic, even if you're still reliant on luck and not skill.

I recommended an Eevee run a while back, although I haven't seen anyone else mention it. But I'd live to see it! I didn't make a video of it, but I did beat Pokemon Crystal with only Eevee, finishing at level 86. Jasmine was a pain in the butt, but I got through without any items in battle. if you want my favourite grinding spot in fire red the ember spa on 1 island has some pretty good fighting trainers outside of it and the trip back into the spa that lets you heal is over 100 steps letting you recharge the vs seeker while getting back to full health. it is a very nice spot
