I am also working on that piece and after two weeks I manage to play this first section at a pace of around 60 bpm (for eights) kind of consistently. I am a hobby guitar player and this is by far the hardest piece I have ever tried. My excursions into the second part are scary, the beginning of that is so hard with the bar grips in third fret and fingering to seventh fret... But this piece is so lovely, I don't care if it takes me half a year to play it properly :)

It took me thirty years and a pandemic to revisit my guitar and this piece. Back ‘90 I was introduced to this song and it didn’t totally register for me. I felt it was to complicated. Then fast forward to December 2020… I dust off my guitar and find my sheet music. Three months later I figured out this piece. I’m still putting it together but I am further along compared to when I first attended to learn Capricho Arabe.

What a silly thing to say. It's great to play some classical pieces (I wouldn't try Bach, for example) on steel-string, just as it's great to play some blues or fingerstyle etc. on a nylon string. Sure, if you're gonna go full-on classical you should definitely get a nylon string guitar, and I'm surprised Marco doesn't have one. But experimenting with switching over is definitely useful and fun. I play Tarrega's Etude in Em on my steel string all the time and it sounds amazing.

The second section in the key of F major is literally a pain(finger stretching and Barre chords). Going to be learning the third section in D major probably this week.
@Xplisyt3 жыл бұрын
I believe it's best to learn songs in the key they're in. If you're going to practice difficult scales or chord shapes through a song, it's much more fun and interesting and speaking for myself, I always get greater sense of accomplishment. Practicing a shape/scale without context can become tedious very quickly. But in the end, to each their own. What matters the most is that you have fun doing it. Good luck man!

@ahmadnaser81923 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing! To be honest it sounds quite unique on a steel-string.
@flatpigionn31273 жыл бұрын
Because it’s a classical piece and classical guitars are nylon strings. And he’s not a classical guitarist so he’s not playing it with a classical guitars. Also to play them you need fingernails and the technique is very different. So it would be like him learning a new instrument for one piece.
@davidcook37953 жыл бұрын
@@flatpigionn3127 I use nails but many actually do not. Brandon Acker, the one playing in the small screen, has recently transitioned to no nails.

I think it all depends on the hand of a guitarist. Steel string is as much capable of expressing feeling as nylon string, listen to these Blues legend and you know why.
