You two are hiking so strong! You're doing great! Congratulations on the hard boiled egg. They are great with some black pepper or hot sauce. Glad you caught your friends, you both worked hard for that. Your videos are such good content and quality, I look forward to each one. The creme ale had to be good, especially cold and out of a glass! I thought about writing a book on my second thru hike about every drinking establishment along the trail but I never followed through with it. All the hiking I've done and I never thought about the pack switch. That had to be interesting!........and educational. When you talked about rushing, I was an adrenaline junky all my life. If it wasn't thrilling and exciting, I didn't want to do it........then I hiked the A.T. I don't rush anything anymore. Calm, laid back, always contemplating before doing and then doing it effectively. It's a giant change compared to what I was. This trail definitely changed my life forever. The photo at McAfee Knob was incredible! I would have never thought of wearing the dress for a shot. You looked great! If you still have it, you should wear it on Katahdin. Stay safe, Have fun! geek

I saw a great bumper sticker “ I’M not in YOUR hurry “ 😂 I think your friends could have the bumper sticker “ I’m not on your hike “ … they clearly are on a different hike than you and unfortunately they happen to be the group you clicked with . I’m glad SMOKE stuck with you. Enjoyed your video! Please consider increasing your intake of, and making beef & eggs a daily part of your diet. As this would address your lack of energy, as well as boosting stamina, feeling more warmth in the cold mornings, and help with digestion issues. Trust me, it was game changing for me. It has allowed me to feel almost invincible! Beef and eggs are like true “super-foods”, please never underestimate their power to boost our health. Keep it truck’en!! Watching AT videos from the UK, all the hikers seem to have appalling diets. So many carbs and so little protein and fat, (and lets not even mention the sugar intake). Surprising as Pemmican should be well known in the US (and the reasons of why it's considered a superfood for long distance, low resource traveling) and how it's been used by explorers throughout history.

I saw your post a couple weeks ago about wanting to organize a group hike with all the people who follow you on here…Dragon’s Tooth would be awesome, and we could do the Boy Scout Trail with you to officially complete the AT! I feel your pain on the allergies…Virginia born and raised here…beautiful plant life everywhere, but the allergies here are no joke! Like some others have commented, try to get a head start on the medication because it takes time to kick in. A cry count of 5 is pretty dang low for making it all the way to VA! Hey Maddie!! I’ve been watching your channel since you began the trail. Love it! The umbrella is my favorite accessory of yours. In the last 2-3 episodes you’ve been killin it to see your Tramily again. My question to you is, it seems that each day before you hike, miles are the goal. And I apologize because although I’ve not hiked the trail, Im just curious to know if your focus on miles overshadows the day to day? I wonder if maybe you may have met hikers coming up from behind you met them. Again, I apologize because I’ve not had my feet in your shoes, but I am a person that I could see focusing down on numbers and miles. And I wonder if it would be good to start the hike earlier and see what the day brings. As a fellow seasonal allergy sufferer, I’d suggest Claritin RediTabs or something similar. They dissolve under your tongue and enter the bloodstream quicker. Not cheap, but they’re one a day. Also in a pinch, you might try Chlorphenamine Tabs. They can make you drowsy though, so probably better towards the evening. Hope you get the better of ‘em. Looking forward to your vids, and esp when you get to Shenandoah. It’s one of my faves.

I have allergies too. Zyrtek works for me but it takes a few days for it to kick in. You can get the generic brand reasonably priced at Costco (for when you return home). My husband's allergies are way worse than mine and he takes generic claritan (loratadine) and 12 hour generic sudafed daily. It kicks his to the curb. I hope you are feeling better soon. It's so hard to have a running nose and eyes off trail. I can't imagine how hard it is on trail. Be gentle with yourself.

In every team work endurance program- the team only moves as fast as the slowest person, and its protical for everyone to meet to the slowest persons speed- this is in the Military, and Team racing, in sports, etc... Usually when the rest of the team slows down and go with the slowest memebers they inherently begin to speed up becasue they have all that support.

Not sure if allergies are still affecting you, but a taking a high dose of vitamin C for a few days in a row can be an effective treatment. Prevents your body from producing histamines in response to allergens

We were trying to surprise them (in retrospect not a practical idea) so there wasn't much communication either way about where we were. But more importantly, this is one person's experience inside one group that did the AT. Everyone has a different experience. If you wanted to avoid the social scene, you could go when the trail doesn't have many people on it or go SOBO@@TheSingularity2
