My suggestion: Get rid of the timer. All I care is about Sohla making cool food and don't particularly care how long it takes. Unrelated, does Ham get paid for his appearances?

100% get rid of the timer. I could watch 8 hours of this
@qwertyuiopgarth
@qwertyuiopgarth 3 жыл бұрын
@@emilymcglynn I'm fine with them keeping the timer, it is amusing if she 'beats it' (which I could never do), and she has a lovely "don't really care" attitude for when she doesn't 'beat it'. The timer is sort of like the color choices made in the kitchen, they exist and Sohla does just fine with them. The key part, of course, is "Sohla does just fine". More Sohla please.

same, i hate how much the timer limits her. I want to see the extent she can go, but maybe we can just make it longer than 1 hour... like 3 hours. She'd have so many more tpes of meals she can make then too!

@nightingale4786

@@lrizzard it is unhealthy but only if the oil is burned or if it's unstrained and there's too many burned bits at the bottom of your frying vessel. if neither of those things happen, so long as you don't burn (general rule of thumb is that if your oil starts smoking it's probably not good to reuse) and strain scraggly bits after each time you fry, you can reuse the fry oil 2-4 times!
@majoroldladyakamom6948
@majoroldladyakamom6948 3 жыл бұрын
Once the oil is cooled, use a very fine-mesh strainer or cheese cloth and put it in A SEPARATE container in the FRIDGE. Why? The oil is now flavored - like potatoes, organic material introduced, and could be used for making potato or other savory breads/dishes. Not banana or sweet breads, etc. The used oil also has contaminants (bits of potatoes, an organic material) and would be unsafe for pouring back in to/with the original container or leaving in the cupboard. Must be refrigerated. Could go rancid if put in the cupboard. From this Major Old Lady, aka Mom somewhere near Seattle... hope this helps! ⚘🙏❤🙏⚘

Saying I love Sohla is almost too obvious to state, BUT, I love her husband too, _that's_ the surprise twist. If you are new to Sohla you should know that her hubby doesn't just support whatever she makes. He's perfectly capable of saying, "this doesn't work for me." He's a chef. I wish Sohla had her own channel instead of making money for other channels.
@lrizzard
@lrizzard 3 жыл бұрын
im sure she makes a suitable amount of money from these videos, seeing how so many channels are in a race to feature her, (and how she spoke up the last time that didnt happen), also it might be better (and even more profitable) for her to be working under a youtube company based on how youtube money making laws work.

When the pandemic first happened and she worked for that other magazine I remember seeing her small Brooklyn apartment. I was thinking she really made that work but it looks like they upgraded and have much more room which is nice. It is a very cute kitchen and very her.

Thank you for mentioning both the guide and cutting gloves while using the mandoline. One year I spent Thanksgiving morning and afternoon in Urgent Care because I did not use the mandoline guide and couldn't get the bleeding to stop. Needless to say, I couldn't watch that part of the video. Do as Sohla says, use the guide and the gloves!

I'm not crazy! My favorite snack/dessert for such a long time has been potato chips with ice cream, and this proves that it's a perfectly valid food combo.

I'm Czech. We make sweet potato dumplings or something similar to gnocchi but softer with smashed poppy seeds, butter and sugar 🙂

We have a classic, very regional Maine dessert treat called a needham that uses potato, coconut, and is dipped in chocolate. You should check it out!

I usually go through an entire bag of potatoes making a tapas meal between the tortilla, patatas bravas and huevos rotos. I was surprised by just how much potato was in the food in Spain when I went there and I took the recipes home. Also, I thought Sohla was going to go with chocolate covered potato chips like they used to have in the Late Night Snack Ben and Jerry’s flavor that I used to love. Bring it back!
