Hi Joey, lithium battery at 3.7 volts is it's flat state, fully charged is 4.2. I think they state a lithium battery in its flat state because thats how you should store them. Never leave a lithium battery on charge, only charge a lithium battery when you are going to use it. If your not using your battery device leave it flat or in a used charged state. An 18v tool when charged is actually running at 21volts fully charged, 18.5 v is its flat state. Hope this helps, love your series Joey. John P.S when the charger was plugged in, the very right hand number normally fluctuates when charging yours was still meaning its not charging. But i do have a different tester from you.

I have repaired one of these small handheld consoles before that would not power on. It turned out to be missing the firmware. There was a small card slot that was missing its storage. I found a card and downloaded the software. It came to life when it was installed. It would do nothing without it. It was not this exact model though.

Ooo interesting! Did it give the red light when plugged into charge as well? I'll have a look into that, thanks bud :)

@@JoeyDoesTech I believe you can download firmware for the Evercade from, their site. Newer consoles from Blaze update over WiFi, but this one doesn’t have WiFi. You put the firmware on over USB connection to your computer, which you demonstrated is working earlier.

Hello to YA FACE, Joey! Good to hear your voice! I want to thank you for explaining what you're doing with detail. You, specifically, inspired me to try to learn hot air soldering. Bought my first hot air station a few weeks ago and have done a few lesrning projects so far. It is not as hard as it seems, to be honest. Never would have tried if it were not for these videos! So, thank you very much, Joey!

It's incredible how a single capacitor knocks down an entire console in a chain.

You should show more on how and where you inject voltage

Hey Joey, just fyi, 3.7 is not fully charged, in fact it's almost empty, a 3.7v battery when charge should have around 4.2v
@hmartinlb6 ай бұрын
3.7v is the nominal voltage. It's the average voltage of the cell (between full and empty).
@michaelgleason47916 ай бұрын
A 3.7V battery runs at 3.7V. Yes, it may read more fully super duper charged, but 3.7V is definitely nowhere near dead.
@BrianCohen6 ай бұрын
@@michaelgleason4791 I fix phones, in my experience when a battery is 3.70, the phone has 10% or less Of course it should show something on the screen and even turn on, not saying that that's the problem, but is definitely not fully charged nor is it at 50%
@synize51526 ай бұрын
Its def not almost empty, voltage would be under 3.2v for lipo. 3.7v is generally a good indication battery is okay. Your mentioning about capacitance(10% usable). You cant tell that without doing a capacity test, which puts a load on the battery and determines how long it can hold that load. This would give you an idea of how much mah the battery is now and you’d depending on draw you can the calculate how much runtime you’d get, or capacity lost of the battery. Regardless of your experience, Without doing any of that you can’t say what capacity this battery is and your just having a guess, all we can say is the battery seems to be outputting the correct voltage

The evercade to me "smells" like a firmware corruption. It powers on, it presents itself as a USB device (indicates CPU active) but does not boot. No apparent short. See if you can get somehow to confirm it is stuck in a boot, or how you can reflash it or something?

is it a bad backlight for the everdrive?

I think most of the power supplies internally have a short circuit protection in place that would it take something's wrong it goes into short circuit protection mode until you power it off and power it back on I think it's the first line of protection before something catastrophic happens whatever that might be🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
