Good tip with the white tac/blue tac for organizing screws! I don't actually do this, but that's because I have organizing trays (including one from Ifixit) which do the same thing. So if you don't have blu-tac, get yourself a cheap organizing tray and you're all sorted!

Recently found your channel and really love the pace of your videos compared by other electronic channels. Good job with the editing. Would love to see more tools when diagnosing, like an oscilloscope to check data/reset lines, more references to data sheets, and maybe demonstrations of different techniques that accomplish the same goals. Like using a meter with µΩ resolution instead of a thermal camera to track down shorts. Anyways will be subscribing. Who knows maybe my kids ps5 will fail someday and prove the video watching not to be just a way to pass the time?

At 9:39 when testing the Switch after you cleaned all the corrosion off, you mentioned that you got "absolutely nothing" on the screen after plugging it in. However, if you go back and watch it, it *does* seem like a backlight comes on at least. It's super faint, but you can notice it in about the lower third of the screen, right in the middle. It could just be artifacts from KZbin's compression, but it does look to me like something lit up! Of course, I'm sure there are still plenty more issues with that much corrosion, but it does appear to have signs of life at least! Oh, and congrats on a 10 episode profit streak!

You should look into getting the same trace repair strips that Northridge Fix uses. The wire works well enough in most cases, but I bet if you had the strips you would find some use for them. Im sure theyre available on his store.

whwn it comes to super dirty PCBs, I like to SOAK them in 99-100% IPA overnight. then scrub them with a boars hair brush while still under (wearing latex or similar gloves) and usually the come out minty! They're useful for cleaning up post-rework but they're not quite as important if you keep your flux usage to only enough for the job rather than globbing it all over the place like Rossmann made popular [ that is good though for broad area LD rectification ]. I've got a couple of USC's and while they will make boards look factory new they do have their own risks.

Just get an ultrasonic, dude. I mean come on. Or hey, perhaps a crowd funded is in order. There's no good reason not to have one in your repertoire. Attack me, bash me whatever comment section. I'm just sayin, if it makes your/his repair chances go up then IDK why it can't happen. And, unless an ultrasonic hurts the board, it should make the repairs more reliable/long lived in the long run.
