I would classify a Light Side Sith as "Intelligently Evil" The character isn't some buffoon who has to constantly brag about how powerful they are or someone who gets off on torturing the weak. Their Darkness is evident in their cold, calculated manipulations of the weak. Much more enjoyable to play

This is definitely the case for my Darth Occlus character, pragmatically evil, will show little mercy to traitors and the enemie but allows allies room to fail and learn from their mistakes, applaud forward thinking and stamp down on prejudice or racism, and ofcourse despises the hypocrisy of both the idiot on his side and the Republic and jedi

I tend to roleplay the light side sith inquisitor as an imperial patriot. Someone who understands that for the sith to survive the empire must survive. I agree with the reading of cold pragmatism, but view them more of a grey user of the dark side. Either someone who smothers their murderous instincts, or someone who has killed off that side of themselves.

I always LOVED playing as a chiss inquisitor, the sith hates them for being an alien and their own race (the chiss) hates them for being force sensitive. It’s such an interesting dilemma to be in. Ur an outcast by ur own order and ur race.

But a descendant of Kallig whose lineage had been intermixed with other non-Sith and has long been out of power. Like, you literally start out as a slave, gets called a slave and impure blood, and treated by Harkun as beneath anyone.

LIght-sided Sith are satisfying in a way dark-side Jedis can never be. Both Warrior and Inquisitor are acutely aware that, while they may be prodigiously powerful, they are *extremely* flawed individuals. While the dark-side options are, at times, entertaining in a purely non-sensical, cartoonishly evil way, the light-side actions and paths aim to overthrow one clearly perceived flaw in the Empire -- the Sith being loose cannons of utter destruction that are -- at best -- marginally more deadly to the Empire's enemies. That parts of the blindly patriotic military are wholly unaware of this, even higher-ups (see Major Bessiker: Balmora Inquisitor Class Story), only lends credence to the internal propaganda: officially, the Sith are the heart of the Empire. But on the whole, they're also the reason why the Empire can't ever win. Individually they might be more powerful than Jedi, perhaps. But they're completely dysfunctional in social cohesion. In that respect, dark-side Republic stories all feel very disappointing, except maybe Trooper. You can be a typical BioWare jackass, but you can't really *achieve* anything. You can be cruel or disrespectful or selfish -- but you can't engage in meaningful discourse over the tenets of the Jedi Order without becoming a murdering psychopath. And, just to refresh a few memories, the Jedi really *are not* the good guys. Satele Shan herself mentions how the Order might *have to take steps against the Voss* because they're dangerously 'grey', i.e. not conforming to the Order's ideology while being perfectly peaceful to any, admittedly, non-Gormak visitor.

This was the part of the review I felt made a good argument on why the big "plot twist" that Rose is Pink Diamond fails to impress me because she doesn't have a morally gray exterior as Pink Diamond (No, I am discrediting Sugar's statement of Rose being a shit person without actually showing) and she doesn't have any qualities of dictator turned revolutionist at all in her personality and actions!

She could have just said that the Light Side Sith in SWTOR, are still ruthless and undemocratic, which is what Rose in SU should have been like. But out of context it is a great discussion.

The dual system wasn't first used in World of Warcraft. As far as I know, Everquest 2 had that and the game came out 3 to 6 months before. Also SWTOR is superior to WoW in absolutely every way.

In the prequel Trilogy, yeah, we do see they had some issue, but the Original Trilogy? We barely learn anything about how they worked due to them having been gone for years, and the only ones we see consist in two old but overall decent people, a young naive but pretty nice kid just learning, and one bad guy who betrayed his order (thus making him an exception by definition)..... where was that corruption exactly?

The seed of the prequels was planted in ROTJ when Obi Wan refused to acknowledge that the person he was friends with and the person who became Vader were the same psyche. He coped by treating Anakin and Vader as separate beings and acting as if the Vader persona killed the Anakin one. We see in the climax that it was never true, and thus, the story had to contend with the idea that maybe the Jedi weren't infallible as they'd been portrayed. The level of defeat the Jedi suffered had to be the result of a catastrophic failure, so while it's not the "den of corruption" yet, there is a clear opening where a reassessment of the Jedi had to be done if the time of the republic was ever going to be explored.

When you actually stop and think about the implications of Yoda and Obi’s teachings, they were telling Luke to deliberately let his friends suffer and die specifically so he could become powerful enough to be their personal assassin against Vader and the Emperor. What does that sound like but the Darkside to anyone?

The only reason the Sith go on about blood purity is because it's virtue-signaling to today's audience and today's morality, which treats people as if they were all interchangeable widgets and that diversity is superficial. The reason the Sith constantly fail has nothing to do with this, and everything to do with the narcissism and venal corruption of the Sith in pursuit of power. Talk about completely missing the point.

Ehr, you do know how old this game is, right? I don’t remember the exact year, but SWTOR first launched before Mass Effect 1, so roughly around 2008 - 2010. Aka, the good old days when political correctness gone mad was still mostly quarantined to Tumblr and professional writers still knew how to write decent stories, even with an underlying political massage present.....
