Another reason to love Darth Marr that you might have missed is how much he basically encapsulates the idea of fatherhood...or alternatively that of a drill sergeant. His purpose is to be the demon against the threat of his people with pure unadulterated brutality, yet also at every turn only engages in necessary pain (rather than sadism) for his people to emerge stronger. His pragmatism demands the best of his people (and himself) to win any obstacle that may come and to do so without forcing casualties for the sake of one's ego.

The pragmatic, reasonable and honorable mentality of these Sith is such a refreshing and satisfying perspective, and yet they are still by no means "goody two shoes" as some people like to call them. They are still very much Sith and they still grasp for greater power, but for greater reasons than themselves. There's a conversation between Lana Beniko and a Jedi Master (sorry for spoilers) where she says the Sith Code teaches to aim for higher power, but it never specifies that one is obligated to do so through betrayal or murdering their master.

That reminds me of something curious. Bioware, after the sucess of KOTOR, developed Jade Empire. In it there are two philosohpies: the Open Palm and the Closed Fist, and they take inspiration on the Light and Dark side respectively. Although, for gameplay reasons, OP is the good path and CF is the evil path, by itself the Jade Empire universe specifies that both are neutral on a philosophical way. An Open Palm follower altruist act can both be to help someone in need, as well as make one owe favours. Avoiding to eliminate a threat, just because it wouldn't be the right thing, might allow time for such threat to grow more powerful. In comparison, the Closed Fist follower may refuse to help someone not out of malice, but in the belief the person either needs no help, or should grow stronger to deal with their troubles, or learn to deal with the result of their bad choices. The Closed Fist follower seeks independence and self improvement, and believes each and everyone is the master of their path.

Given the fact that they literally coexisted at the same time, and shortly after presumed death of Emperor Vitiate, Darth Malgus briefly took a stand on the Dark Council, replacing Darth Baras. At that Time, Marr and Malgus were overall equal, with, perhaps, Malgus getting a slight advantage. However the Eternal War shortly followed. While (I presume) Darth Acina's powerbase managed to preserve Malgus's body and later rebuild him into the next Wrath, Darth Marr died at the hands of Valkorion (a.k.a.) Vitiate. And after that Malgus lived to become, quite literally, the most powerful Sith of the Reconstructed (Or whatever its called) Sith Empire, before going rogue to (again). Right now this story is not Complete in the MMO, altho it is safe to say, Darth Malgus in his later stages of life (which is his 70s) is more powerful, though, not by a lot, than Darth Marr at the end of his life (who was in his 60s when struck down).

Marr went out through blatant defiance, my SI chose to kneel, only to strike the traitorous Emperor down when possible. A respected leader who respected his subordinates and the og spymaster, detached professional, knowing that his work - cleaning up the mess those Sith morons make - is not a glamorous one, but it's the only thing that keeps the Empire from succumbing into utter chaos and disintegration. He was actually one of the few high-ranking Imperials that made my Agent see some hope for the Empire (for the record though, I have not yet finished the original storyline yet) Edit/Update: There was also this Sith lord, Medechas if I'm correct, who was tasked with securing the landing zone on Belsavis so that the Dread Masters could be safely escorted out of the planet. I liked his approach to the job - professional, preferred careful planning to brute force and simultaneusly got so much joy out of his work. A great man on the post. Also, there was this sergant from a side-quest at Dromund Kaas who's men where abducted by a mad (or more mad than a regular Sith) Sith lord. She cared for them almost like a mother, they in turn stayed utterly loyal to her and called her 'the Duchess'. Darth Marr, a Sith who rose to the heights of the Empire and would fight until his last breath to protect his people. He is, in my eyes, an example of what the Sith can and should strive to be and while Valkorion may have killed him, he is nothing compared to Marr.

I bet when that Moff saw Marr’s uncovered face, he was so taken aback by its flawless beauty that it could best be described as a “religious experience”. So to see that same beatific face utter the words “You disappoint me” filled him with such shame & self-revulsion that he knew the only true course of action left was to remove his unworthy self from his Lord’s employ & vicinity (which meant existing in the same universe).

Its canon that when the Outlander finds Satele. Ghost Marr starts pestering her to feed them. I can only assume he took one look at them and was like "damn, someone get this kid a burger. That carbonite nap did nothing for him"

I always saw Marr as the final evolution of a force sensitive. A Sith not bound by constant blunt cruelty and selfishness. Lawful evil as we call it. And not clouded and arrogant like a Jedi. Make no mistake. He is Sith and would kill without hesitation. He's a lot like Sidious. Realizing the value in people and having some restraint.

I've been waiting for a video about Darth Marr from this channel for 2000 years after the True Sith Empire fell. Thank you! Darth Marr is one of the greatest Sith Lords the Old Republic era could offered! If that's not enough, his apprentice is quite a hottie herself despite her...weird but beautiful face. P.S: The True Sith Empire does not deserved to fell! It has so many Light-sided Sith that fought for their peoples and splitting the galaxy into two between two galactic superpowers is the best option so far for the galaxy's governance!

In my eyes, one cannot truly live until he or she accepts the inevitability of his or her expiration. I've done the tango with death quite a few times in my almost 24 years of life. Though I do live my life the best I can, I no longer fear my inevitable death. Instead, I have accepted that it will happen.

My first play thru was as a Sith Inq and I was introduced to Marr as a Sith Inq. Man really knows how to treat you like a peer, as a fellow council member, and fully lets you know how tired he is of the Sith politics holding the empire back. Marr really knows how to make you feel special. Glad you're calling him a gigachad. That's exactly the right word. Back then I only knew him as bro. Because that's what he was.

Now I understand why everyone likes this dude so much, I’ve seen him in tributes along with revan for famous siths but never understood who he is. He truly is the definition what it means to be a sith, in my opinion, which is to rebel against power or in other words live your life without restraint and fear. Instead of embracing the power of the dark side like the other sith, mar sees his role for a greater purpose.
@vmac8972 Жыл бұрын
It’s as if Lana and Darth Marr manipulate the dark side to their benefit instead of letting the dark side consume them and turning them to madness and fury. They were rational yet still followed the Sith doctrine.

Not sure he became friends with the Jedi order so much as came to understand them and their beliefs. His meeting with Satele Shan following his death meant they were both enlightened to the Jedi and Sith ways...Jedi believing in peace and justice, Sith believing in passion and ambition. This meant they saw that both can work together for the greater good and they were indirectly a representation of the Eternal Alliance.

I really like the twist of being a business-man Sith lord like Darth Vectivus. Honestly, him incorporating an ancient religion's teachings & rituals into his business management as an owner of a mining company is genius. He was able to summon shadow-slaves to mine for him when the caverns became too poisonous for living workers & he amassed a ton of sith artifacts & knowledge. When he died, he died peacefully & around close friends... He wasn't mutated, hated... or even evil. He saw an opportunity to be a better businessman & a way to amass fortunes beyond his imagination & he grasped it.
