I'm 68 and I've never ever had a doctor ask me about my life style, like how much i exercise or what i eat. even when i lost 100 lbs on my own the doctor was surprised but never asked me how i did it or what foods I ate. they just noted it and moved on. it's so important that we be motivated and take responsibility for our health :)

Hi My name is Heather P . Your breathing video taught me what to do after getting nervous about my blood test . I knew it was going to hurt . 1 Minute later they took my blood pressure . That was 188 . I calmed down with your breathing to get it down to 181 a few minutes later. It does work . And I just cut back on my salty foods . 1 MONTH ago .

I did lower, then I stopped the med. I did it slowly, but still thought I was going to die. I used aspirin to stabilize my heart then after 2 weeks I was back to normal. Now my BP is 116/68. I had to stop because the med. was slowly increasing my BP and messing up my life. Things I did: stopped high carb intake, breakfast at 11am supper at 5 and lots of walking at least 8000 steps.

@@X-157.98 My BP was usually over 140/79 and got it down to below 130/75 before deciding to quit. Even though my walking goal is at least 8000 steps, I recommend more than 10,000. The more the better. Also, fast from 7pm-11am. Eating a couple of eggs in the evening makes it so one is not so hungry in the morning. Then if you feel hungry, have some mineral water first.

Dr. Story. I had a hemorrhagic stroke six, almost 7 years ago at age 53, paralyzed on my left side initially, hospitalized for a week, 10 days in an acute rehab center. Managed to learn to walk again, went home with a cane, and over six months of outpatient rehabs 3 times a week I managed to return to my work part-time only due to constant fatigue. They told me my stroke, a brain bleed, was caused by my uncontrolled high blood pressure and I would be on medication the rest of my life. It took me 3 years before I decided to more actively take control of my health. I started fasting, ate keto for awhile, took off 40 pounds, and my blood pressure numbers at home started to decline and finally asked the doctor to try and take me off slowly a couple off the two medications, amlodipine and hydrochlorathiazide I had been taking. I was tired, muscle cramps. I had started a walking regime, and believe it or not some hitt sprints and free weights a few times per week. Answer from doctor was no still. I finally went to a naturopathic doctor, had some tests done, she suggested a different kind of bp med, and eventually my other doctor agreed to let me ditch the hydro crap. So I still am on a small, 5mg dose of Ramipril at night and my bp numbers are good in the am 118/78 or 120/80s, and well when I have the conversation can I wean, all doc says is you are going against medical advice if you do that, I will note it in your chart as non-compliant. You kinda have to laugh at it all for God sake as no realization or asking how my lifestyle changed. So ridiculous. But, I loved your video and believe there is still hope if I clear up more lifestyle stuff I can get off the last one. I walk 4 miles pretty much 5 days a week or more and try and keep my stress response more subdued now. But, just wanted to say I appreciate your smart ass responses to the jerks in the comments that have nothing better to do with their pathetic lives than rain on your parade. Life is too short, and I know how precious it is at this point. Thanks for reading this Sir, I wish you the damn best cycling day my friend!!❤

I have a problem with Doctors bc every time I see one I feel as if the problem I'm having is my fault. 'You've got to get your b/p down' not WE have to work on b/p. I worked with MDs for many years, I know the scorn they feel for patients who don't respond to the treatments. (and take supplements) I was on b/p meds for years, recently the MD doubled the dose of both meds. That worried me! I stopped taking both and my b/p didn't change at all. I cleaned up my diet, started walking daily and stopped both meds. My b/p is lower than when I first saw the MD.

I know someone who is massively overweight .. high blood pressure medication for years .. then high cholesterol . .. His doctor as never until recently asked about his diet and exercise and that was only because he became pre diabetic. !!!!! .... Oh the irony of it all .... As soon as I was told I had raised cholesterol and blood pressure I changed my diet and started exercising ... Hopefully next check up it'll be going in the right direction.

When I was told to go on ramipril by my Dr. He asked about exercise but not diet. Old school uses the medication. I've decided to get off the meds, I'll my doctor first, and he will probably have me use a lower dose and monitor my levels with my machine (takes three automatic readings then gives an average). A change in diet and exercise will be better, but difficult. Great advice, thanks.

I hate BP medication because it has all kinds of sides effects, after 20 years decided now to stop. My BP fluctuates daytimes acceptable, but nighttime frequently over 190. Had recently stenosis operation. Fed up with dizziness for last 4 years, so quitting. Very careful with diet and exercise and accepting what comes may.

my blood pressure is not good, with medicine it goes down to 103/69 or 117/72 later in the day 122/72 but early mornings it is low and I feel sick when it is in the teens number but if my pressure is say anywhere from 120/70 I feel better when I stop medicine it starts to go up to 159/86 or 164/98 this is always around 8,9,or 10 pm sometimes I can have it 103/69 at 5pm with medication and I do not feel good for me it is to low. My lab work came out good and my heart doctor says my heart is good, but I am always tiered and dizzy not spinning dizzy but lightly dizzy and when I try to walk around the grocery store, I feel faint and tired like I need a little more breath and I feel like I am going to faint or dizzy. When I eat olives or sault my pleasure, goes up from 103/69 to 120/70 I feel better but every day I feel tiered and dizzy not sinning dizzy but uncomfortable dizzy I did lose a lot of weight I was 178 and went down to 160 one and a half years ago but I lost the weight without trying I lost that weight in one month and a half and have been like that I lost my muscle as well I eat all I want and do not gain weight that is not like me

You can have a heart attack with normal blood pressure. I've seen percentages from 47% to 69%. I have not seen any research articles on the impact of lowering blood pressure, just a lot of propaganda. I have a very strong case of white coat hypertension. All I have to do is enter a medical setting ]. I know it's temporary because I'm fine when I've had a chance to rest and relax and do home monitoring. However, I told the doctor I am not taking blood pressure meds no matter what. At my age, I'd rather roll the dice than live with the side effects. Have you seen Ezekiel Emanuel's article, I want to die at 75? His video updates? I am 100% in agreement.
