I actually just picked up a 21 soul red rf club for 34.5 ($200 off msrp) + 1.9% apr with no add ons, guess I got lucky with the dealer I went to! After tax and reg it was like 38kish though 🙃 Please keep up the Miata content, you are the only channel that is doing it!

Heads up, anyone can get an automatic 1.7k off by getting an SCCA membership (~$100/year). Having an SCCA membership makes you eligible for S-Plan (employee) pricing. You are also still eligible for military and other customer incentives, but you are typically not allowed to haggle beyond those discounts. Wish I had known this when I purchased mine back in August! I was even an SCCA member but I hadn't realized yet.

KZbin algorithm really knows what to show me- i purchased the identical spec Miata (Polymetal Grey Club RF,) on May 19th of this year. I think i even test drove that same white club RF at Capo Mazda (my local dealer). I ended up buying mine from a dealer in San Diego because they were the closest dealer with a polymetal Club RF at the time. In total i paid $34,316 out the door, thanks to a $750 loyalty rebate. So far I LOVE the car. It's the perfect car for cruising around in southern california. Hopefully we pass one another some day so we can miata wave from our twin cars :)

I got a 2020 rf for 35,200 about 3 weeks ago. I went to the dealership myself but needed a parent to co-sign. The guy said if I could get my dad there the same day he’d give me a $500 dealer discount and take off $1100 worth of extra payments

I bought my MX-5 RF GT in mid May for $1k off MSRP in Olympia, WA. Also in Polymetal Gray. When I first visited the dealer, all they had was a white sport soft-top, so I asked them to call when they had something else. They called a couple days later and I went right up as they were unloading my RF and something else off the truck. So I was the only customer to drive it. They offered a small discount due to the chip shortage, I countered with $1k off MSRP and they accepted. Seemed like a fair price considering the chip shortage and their tiny inventory.

I just bought '21 in May, too. Same color also a club, but I got the soft top. I got a little better deal that your price. I love the car so much. I already have over 6k miles on it. I got the soft top for the weight savings for autocross.

I live in rural New England, not CA, but I got the same price on a 2021mx-5 RF GT, Soul Red, in September. It took about a month for everything to get lined up, to make it happen, but there you go.

But now, there are only 2 left. I also noticed the markup is higher as well. We are truly blessed to have gotten it when we did.

Got almost the identical car a couple weeks ago. Had to drive 6 hours from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas to get it, but payed about $1200 under MSRP. I, too, was educated by the same guys on KZbin. Good dudes! Unbelievably thrilled with the car!

During your drive did you vary the speeds to break in the engine? I have a similar drive when I collect mine next month just wondering the best way to way the MX-5 during the trip home.

@@blurayffan66 I did vary speeds, but just because I had a mixture of freeways, side streets and different traffic. While there is no official break in method that Mazda told me, I would take it easy. I must admit, I had to break myself in driving this car because I just came from a Mazda 3 (Axela) with a similar motor and front wheel drive. Enjoyed every minute of it!

I paid 35k ($500 under MSRP) even for mine in mid September. 2021 RF GT. Took a fair bit of back and forth to get it that low. They gave me the whole chip shortage talk, I think they wanted like 37.5k originally and they had literally the only new RF MX-5 in a 150mi range so I didn't have anyone local to leverage against them. I printed out KBB fair price values and had to show them a printout of a used 2020 MX-5 from Carmax I had on hold if they didn't come down below MSRP before they budged. I still feel a little dirty paying that close to MSRP, but I guess it evens out with the amount I got back on my old car, which was valued significantly higher than it was this time a year ago.

I got the very last brand new model available here in Spain 2 weeks ago. It's still on the production line in Japan but ships out 2nd last week of November 2021. Will have it a couple of weeks before Christmas. I have to pick it up near Madrid and then a nice 580km cruise across Spain to my home. Paid 2K below the sticker. It's the middle of the line model called the "Eclipse" here in Spain- soft top 2.0L engine in Soul Red Crystal. Leather seats etc. afaik, no more new models available here until 2022 when they bring out the new "Blue Cap" Edition. Same 2.0L engine, manual tranny but with a brand new white color called "Platinum Quartz"- a super bright and shiny white color. The soft top is also a brand new blue color- a lighter blue. (Car also comes in a black and a red body color but not sure if they are same as existing colors offered).

Nice video. I called the dealer here in Montréal because I’m turning 50 in September and the guy said they have a four month wait atm because 2021 has been “the year of the mx-5, what the hell” and also there are no chips. I’m thinking that come winter, a fair number of convertible owners here will be looking at the winter vacation cost of $2000 -$6000 and the cost of a car payment going tick tick tick...that there should be some good lease takeovers on offer. Also dealer prices should drop for the season in cold weather states.

I can't confirm whether they are still available, but when I was shopping in late august and early September, there were Miatas in Sounthern NH. I know that's a bit of a trek, but if you can get across the border, you might still find some. And I just checked 2 dealers in VT, who DO have mx-5 rf gt... one is red and one is grey

@@sherritice9279 that's interesting but manufacturers and sometimes governments take steps to make sure that we can't simply cross shop new cars across the border like that. Every now and then when the US and Canadian dollar hit parity there are some great deals for us but alas importing a car is never simple like sneaking a bottle of whisky over. Transport Canada also has slightly different requirements that US Dept of Transport as well. Thanks though for the thought and reply!

Great information! White is the least sold color, usually sits longer than all the other colors in a roadster. I’m going to use that site though, thanks. I’m wondering should I wait to get a 2021 closer to when the 2022 comes out, and maybe I could get one below 24k ?

@@MisterMiyada definetely the RF. I live in Central FL. The strength of the sun will damage the roof of a soft top quickly. Retractable hardtop is the way to go in FL. Then in the winter months, perfect weather to open the top. How is the miata on gas? How often are you filling up?

It's funny. last year, in california I got my 2018 soul red RF club 8k miles AT for 23k (~27k after fees) and i could sell it this year to vroom for 28.6k (Sold it to carmax for 27k cuz they were faster). Meanwhile I bought a 2019 soul red RF GT with tan interrior 8k miles MT for 33k (~37k after fees) last week

How are you liking the RF GT? Does the car feel different from the club? I know it has more features, but how is the overall experience for you?

@@MisterMiyada so the earlier models might've had a larger difference. But now the club and GT have the same feel. Going from AT->MT probably made the most difference but my reasoning for a GT than a club this time is it's easier to upgrade a GT to more sporty "club" trim but you can't do so with the club to "luxury" GT trim. The only difference imo is leather seats feel way hotter even with the tan color (I persoally don't like leather seats) and having a telescoping steering wheel lets the car fit much better. The rest is negligible changes.

@@MisterMiyada OH biggest complaint tho. The GT front lip (called front air dam by manufacturer) is horribly cheap. It's a hard plastic compared to probably the fibgerglass of the club. Biggest problem is if you hit something, fiberglass will break/shatter/etc. meanwhile the plastic will bend and bend the bumper with it since it's rivetted on. Also because it's rivetted on you probably need to go to a shop to install a new one

I not sure about the Miatas, but from working in the auto industry, I can say that there was probably a holding lot FULL of the cars. They may have been missing just one part, but the auto industry is also run by terrible people who are not above holding product back from the market to create a shortage on purpose. They are greedy and money hungry people...the types that really would sacrifice their gramma for a little more money.

I’ve owned a GT86 before my MX-5. Fun cars as well. My advice is to wait for Toyota and Subaru to refresh the new GR86. The first generation usually has things they need to improve after getting real world use and feedback from the first round of buyers/drivers.

I just want a car that makes me smile by doing the legal speed limit.. no point of having a dull high powered vehicle if I'm going to get pulled over by these Aussie cops. I use to be HP guy but now that I'm thinking what's the point. I can take this to the B roads just for an excuse to get a cup of coffee.
