Two friends and I travelled from the US to Australia. All three of us are from Colorado. While traveling by train from Melbourne to Sydney we went to the "snack" car. As we waited in line, an elderly woman got in line behind us. We immediately asked her to go ahead of us, we were in no hurry. The woman stepped in front of us and said, "you boys are so nice. What part of Canada are you from?"

Unh, it's the Canadian flag in the joke, isn't it? So the Chinese will think good thoughts when they see a maple leaf flag and think, "it's a star just like us". Weird Canada?

So many people say they love Jim because he's a "clean" comedian, but I don't think that's really the essence of his appeal. I think it's that he's wicked smart behind an unassuming demeanor, part of a long tradition stretching all the way back to Will Rogers. Even Richard Pryor was like this, despite his saltier language--he also projected a a mild, sympathetic, non-aggressive persona. The antithesis of the rockstar, bigger than life presence that so many comics attempt.

allan lanktree I thought I was the only one who knew that phrase. Do you know the Hudson Bay Start? Most groups set out in the early morning to get a good start on the trek. The Bay sent their people out in the afternoon. That way if they found out, while setting up camp that night, they had forgotten anything their running would only be a half day behind to catch up. ❤️🇨🇦
