CANON PRO 100 CLI 42 Cartridges! Do I really need to flush them for refilling?
One of the refilling Mysteries!
To flush or NOT to flush!
That is the question!

Hey José, thanks a lot for answering this question (probably asked million of time). I finally decided to flush my original set of cartridges before refilling them. Point taken for the yellow one. We don't have windex here in France and I don't think glass cleaning bottle got any ammonia any more. Thanks a lot for all your fantastic videos that really helps "printing newbies" like me. Hope your shoulder will heal soon!

I purchased a Pro-100s this week and buyed a CISS sytem from ebay. But after seeing many of your videos for the Pro-100s and the CLI-42, i decided to buy another oem ink pack and bought a 32oz Large SQUEZY Deluxe Refill Kit from precisions color. Sadly its very expensive to use a delivery service like myus to ship this package to germany, but its much cheaper than using the oem packs. I am looking forward to use your refilling tips for the CLI-42. Thank you

Love your videos- thank you for the info! For the professional selling of prints in a retail situation do you suggest paying the extra cost and staying with original Canon OEM cartridges for archival and longevity reasons vs. using 3rd party inks and refilling procedures? Thank you in advance!

Amazing video. So, if you don't HAVE to flush them, is there a reason to do it other than just getting more accurate color? Can you just never flush them and be okay? or do you have to do it eventually no matter what. Thank you!

Hi Jose, where can I get those rolls of photo paper you have there stacked on your printer? Are they more cost effective than buying plain sheets?

I get it but when have done that I still get bombarded with questions. It's not just about do this or do that but the background behind making these choices whether to flush or not. It's not ABC. So am going to go the TMI aproach. It's always your choice to skip detailed explanatory or back found sections or not. Believe me I've tried both approaches. Where else are you going to find this kind of content that is proven to work. Why? Because I've taken the months years and two decades to figure out.

Someone give me a used canon pro- 100 printer but they use 3rd party ink inside. Is it okay to switch the ink right away into precisioncolor or do i need to buy canon oem ink and use them first? ( i also have the empty canon oem catriges )

Hi Jose I've been watching your videos for advice on refilling the CLI-42 carts and have had great results so far. Once Issue I've noticed with older carts is that I'm having flow issues with the ink and I think maybe the air vents are a bit clogged. A cart can have ink in the reservoir side but when I take the seal off the ink drops quite a lot, so I assume this is releasing the vacuum and filling the sponge. I wanted to ask if it's possible / sensible to make a small hole in the top of the cartridge myself in order to allow air movement? If so is there a tool you would recommend to do it with? How big should the hole be and where should it go etc? Thanks in advance!
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 2 жыл бұрын
The ONLY hole that should exist is the fill hole you create when you modify the cartridge. Ink flow rate is checked by filling the cart to 80% of the liquid chamber. Hold it over a cup. Remove the orange clip. No ink should drip out. Now remove the fill plug and ink should flow drip drip drip. 2 drops or so per second. Do not drill or add any holes to the serpentine vent area. If you cart has gotten to the point that it no longer delivers ink at the required rate, then it's time to replace it or reflush and dry it.

Jose - two questions 1) Is there a way to print black and white ONLY using the black cartridge ? 2) Do you sell an out-of-the-box solution of precision color for Pixma 100? I don't want to get in to the refilling and all that, but I do want to save some money.
@cheo1949
@cheo1949 4 жыл бұрын
That would no to both questions. Do not fall for compatible ink cartridges being sold if you value your printer. Learn the cart modification process and use high quality 3rd party inks. It's that or continue using OEM.

Hey Jose, I've been printing fine with 13x19 matte paper however I'm trying new 12x12 cardstock and am encountering a problem where it's not recognized. I'm printing from Photoshop and tried to set the size to a custom one but to no avail. Do you have any suggestions? Cheers - K.

12x12 is not a standard size. You need to create a custom paper size

First of all what printer are you using? Then you need to create a custom size 12x12 so it will accept and print on 12x12 media.

I don't see why you can not send a 12 x 12 document from PS to the PRO-1000 and print it at that size on 13x19 and trim the excess. Or even 12x12 ( Not borderless ) simply by creating a 12 x 12 custom paper size in the CANON PRO 1000!

If I ever get tempted by the dark side and decide to use 3rd party inks I'd prefer to have completely clean flushed converted carts. If the seller on eBay does this process day in, day out why take a risk converting and flushing them yourself to save a few dollars. I'd happily pay $60 knowing I can just get straight into it with no fuss. 😋

I wouldn't if you ask me. And that;s from a refiller. I refill and use OEM inks to refill if at all possible except for the PRO-100 for which there is no source for OEM inks in bulk.

My goodness, this guy has 20 -50 min long videos on a simple procedure. In addition, he has 20,000,000,000 videos about refilling a cli-42 cart, but he ramnles about the sponge for 30 mins, then rambles about ink for another 20 mins. If someone needs to review a procedure that they saw, they have to sort through 20,000,000,000 videos of the guy rambling for 50 mins. Why can't he just make one freaking MAIN video about the procedure? people dont have time to watch 10,000 50 min long videos in a playlist just to get a basic question answered. No wonder, why he has 15,000 videos starting out with saying, "some people are still confused." Maybe people are confused because they have to sort through so many 50 minute long videos to get a basic question answered. Click on 20 minute video you think he is gonna answer your question . . .just to be disappointed by a non helpful 30 minute ramble. It is so frustrating, we have no idea, what videos cantain what information. MAKE ONE OVERALL PROCEDURE VIDEO, THAT IS JUST ABOUT REFILLING FOR THE FIRST TIME. WE DONT NEED A 50 MIN RAMBLE ABOUT THE CHEMISTRY OF AMONIA AND 95% ALCOHOL.
