In Singapore they use SINGLISH (Singapore english) They mix all the slang (including Hokkien and Malay who lives there as a minority) And they speak english with the chinese slang . So with the chinese. And "LA" is a one of the Malay rhymes. (Correct me if I am wrong )

Thanks for adding that! I think it's so interesting how the language there has become all mixed. I haven't been to Singapore in a really, really, really long time ... I think I need to go back there and hear it all for myself! :)

Thank you Sue! Cool wall whiteboards! Do they stay on the walls just from the static electricity? Looking forward to the video about 'la'. Thanks for your reply with the taxi picture haha. The sentence particles give the language so much of its charm. : )

Hi again! I actually had written a reply earlier, but was on the MTR at the time and ended up leaving the page and then it disappeared and I ran out of time haha Yes! It says it uses "static stay technology" :) Hope you like the "la" video ... just posted it!

"ne" or "le". You spell it "ne" but pronounce it "Le". Which is it ?

please note that the word 嗎 is not used in spoken cantonese. therefore, 三歲嗎 in your video should be either just 三歲?without a particle or 三歲啦?( low tone) as a question for confirmation, or 三歲呀?or 三歲係咪? in short, the word 嗎 (ma) should never happen in spoken cantonese. therefore, the correct way to say whether u wanna grab food should be : 去唔去食飯? or 食唔食飯?or 一唔一齊食飯。

Agree! We rarely use “ma” (嗎) in spoken Cantonese.
Hi there! Um....I'm assuming you mean people like me but who are British speaking Cantonese? I can say for sure, yes! Actually, my inspiration for starting this channel was a British friend who was/is learning, so that's one person! And HK police officers who were British back in the day spoke Cantonese (I'd love to know if there are any British police in the HK force still?) ...as I'm guessing many in the Government did? Maybe it doesn't seem like there are many since they're just not as visible on KZbin and elsewhere?
