Makes me think of my mother in law. She loved this dish. She passed 2 years ago now. Thanks for bringing back good memories for me. God bless you.

This looks so very tasty... When I was a kid my mom made this with sometimes raisins and always cinnamon sugar but she used milk and it would be gooey and yummy... I've also had some bread pudding with a cream cheese frosting on top that was really good, better than my mom's...☺
@Handorgeous3 жыл бұрын
My mom used to make it and it was so simple. All she it add was bread, piloncillo, cheese, and raisins and it was the most delicious thing. I don't think I would like all that stuff in it. It's plain and simple for me.

But I do remember him adding raisins, banana, peanuts and cheese. I don't remember if he added apple or not or if he added any other fruit. I think I remember him toasting the bread in butter on the stove. Your recipe is similar. I don't like apple butter but I bet it taste good in you capirotada. I'm thinking of using your tea recipe. And slice french bread. Too much work cutting it up. Lol... I love all your dishes. My sister watches your videos too. Thanks for sharing. Peace from California.

@danieljalomojr58563 жыл бұрын
Piloncillo is raw cane sugar. It is formed into those cones. It's raw, unrefined sugar, . It is very sweet and has a subtle molasses taste to it. My mother told me once that it was the type of sugar that very poor people in Mexico used to buy as it was cheaper than the refined white sugar. It's good.

Hi Rachel, love capirotada, tried your recipe today and I really love it. So it's a bit too dry on top but it's my fault, I wasn't sure how many loafs of bread so I got two and I used one and a half ,lol. I should've made a bit more tea but its fine we like it. Never had it with apples and bananas, the apples I like, the bananas not so much. I skipped on the apple butter because I didn't have it. I used pecans and walnuts because I had no peanuts. I really like it. Will be making it again. I turn on your videos just to hear a familiar and friendly voice, reminds me of back home. It brings me comfort. Thank you!!! God Bless you.
