Well I think Captain Marvel at first seems to was wanting to have a character named Marvel because Marvel comics, after all the character *is* old (1967 old, not counting the first Captain Marvel that today is known as Shazam as that goes back to 1940), Ms. Marvel herself dates back to 1977 so this been going on for a while. Character never been popular whatever incarnation/version except the original (Shazam) but lets not talk about sad things.

I'm not one of those people who thinks Danvers shouldn't be Captain Marvel. She's actually the only character in Marvel that probably should have the title based on her history and connection to Mar-Vell (pre idiotic revamps). But they need to do a few things in order to make her successful. They need to change her costume, the current one is horrible. They need to allow the character to have flaws, she's got plenty of them: She's a recovering alcoholic, she left the military on some pretty shady terms, she has gaps in her memory that I'm pretty sure they just conveniently forgot about. She has a conflict with another Marvel hero, Rogue from the X-Men that she should never, ever, be able to mend, the list goes on. All interesting issues that could lead to good stories. They need to define her damn powers. She's supposed to be super-strong (way above Spider-man, but below Thor, around the Thing's strength level), pretty invulnerable, can absorb and redirect energy sources, and has a "sixth-sense" kind of like Spider-Man's spidey-sense but not as powerful. As it stands she apparently can do anything whatever bad writer wants her to do with no rules or limitations. The character has potential, if they actually write her like a human being and not a robotic cult member.

It's like Marvel has decided that there must always be a Carol Danvers Captain Marvel series whether anyone wants it or not. Most publishers would give up after a few failed attempts. They would shelve the character at least for the time being. Maybe they would try relaunching her after a few years to see if there was any interest. Marvel just keeps plugging away like they can make the character popular through sheer persistence. If that was going to work, it would have worked years ago. It has been over a decade. If the customers were coming, they would already be here. It's past time to admit that almost no one actually wants this. Three of the most popular characters... riiight... Of the three i'd say Miss Marvel is the more enjoyable, but this is largely due to the Inhuman storylines she's part of, but as a solo character she's pretty mediocre. Despite trying several times to get a solo series, it never really goes well, and they should probably just keep her part of a team where her personality is contrasted to others rather than just constantly annoying the reader. Then we have Captain Marvel, who lets face it, people have been indifferent about at the best of times, while downright hated during the worst. I'd also like to point out she's probably one of the most hated hero characters in comics, so I guess to that end Bree Larson nailed it. I'd say Danvers was most well liked when she was still Miss Marvel with the old school leotard, but even then she was never a fan favorite. Hell, i'd say most people knew her from the x-men tv series where her chararcter art is she's in a coma. as for Rambeau, I actually had to look her up because I honestly didn't even know who she was outside of Wanda Vision. And what throws me off is, she's not even in the comics, her daughter is. She's a throwaway backround character. If they wanted a black super heroine, not sure why they didn't go Misty Knight, especially as it might even get people who were pissed that Luke Cage was cancelled off netflix.
