Justin has always drawn my attention for his expertise in nutrition science. I have all his books and watched all his videos, podcasts with Dave etc. This podcast has been both a good recap of carb cycling and entertaining. I am a competitive powerlifter and ref, own a gym with my Husband and practice the Conjugate method of Westside. That is where Mark comes into play. I have followed him since the beginning :) Made my day when I saw the two of you were doing a podcast together. Thanks for the material.

Justin is incredible all around. He’s got scholastic credentials and time under the iron. Project super heavyweight is a cardio favourite of mine. There’s no fucking fluff with anything that he prescribes. Wether it’s training or diet. It’s all “meat and potatoes”. One of my favourite quotes (loosely) from Justin “if you pull 600x10 you’re going to have a big back wether you want it or not”. Similarly to eating 6k calories of meat and rice. So refreshing in todays world of fad diets and exercises. And would you people shut up about the space travel lol

Great content! Energy in = energy out, but not all energy is stored; energy is wasted. Eat too much fat and it goes right through you. When very low carb we lose energy through excess ketones; urine, breathing, and sweat.

This is the first time hearing about Justin, i liked what he had to say, nothing was controversial, a lot of common sense. I should say it shouldn't be controversial, but in this idiocracy we live in, the last few years i've seen people both in the High Carb Low Fat camps, and the Zero Carb aka Carnivore camps sadly denying energy balance, saying calories don't count. Thinking that if they follow their particular macros they will be able to eat as much as they want, and if you correct that assumption you are attacked. Sigh. Meanwhile, that misbelief is creating a lot of health problems not the least being weight gain

Guy is amazing..arms of a Greek God..Yet, a bodybuilder who isnt a malignant narcissist. He actually wants to live up to the image of the bodybuilder as a powerful good disciplined hard working man who works to make a positive selfless contribution to the world. He channels great men of the past the soldiers , the hard working blue collar workers, the family men , the principaled and heroic men who freed the world. Justin should be a leader for the industry, reinvent it to produce selfless bodybuilders not false idols of empty muscles and weak souls. Make iconic men who inspire us to seek to slay dragons and be stronger and better men to serve orhers not seek a life being a self serving celebrity.

His answer of getting to Mars in 4 years must be worst case scenario because our rovers get launched at the specific time where are planets are the closest which is roughly 6-7 months. And we are so far radio signals are delayed anywhere between 5 and 20 mins depending on the position between the 2 planets. So every command or message sent and received has a 56k dial up delay lol.

Interesting that around the 42:00 minute mark they're confused as to why the fruit group is reporting feeling better than the processed sugar group. Sure, fructose is fructose and sucrose is sucrose, but c'mon. The processed foods come with things that aren't food for humans. The fruit has fiber, bioavailable vitamins and minerals, and perhaps enzymes and good bacteria. It's clear to anyone with common sense that an orange isn't equivalent to a snickers bar. Why do the guys all caught up in the sCiEnCe, like this guy and Layne Norton, continue to hyper focus on the macro and not everything else that comes with the food choice???

In a perfect world ppl would utilize proper foods for their diets etc.. however ppl aren't perfect so Justin makes the diets in a way so that if you're loading up carbs from fruit or sugar cereals you can do so bc ppl will crave things..
@medeirosru
@medeirosru Жыл бұрын
Also the fruits soluble fiber is attached to a lot of the sugar in the fruit, which would make sense why you would feel better. The processed fructose in most cases has no soluble fiber and its well processed like drinking juice.
@heaz32
@heaz32 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffmacs2o223 I get that. What I'm trying to get across is why play dumb about the reasons someone might feel better eating fruits vs processed carbs
@heaz32
@heaz32 Жыл бұрын
@@medeirosru Why do you think the fiber would make you feel better? The carbohydrates will still be digested and absorbed. I think it might be something to do with the processed foods that aren't actually real food for humans that would make someone feel not great.
@medeirosru
@medeirosru Жыл бұрын
@@heaz32 because it's binded to the sugars which instead of being free and absorbed is attached to the soluble fiber, so your digesting less sugar. So you don't feel as tired and lathargic Or so goes the theory

Only thing I disagree with that he said is that you cannot spot reduce fat. I know this has been a common belief in the industry for a long time but it's simply not true and there are studies to prove it. Anecdotally everyone has seen a jacked power lifter at the gym with a huge gut and ripped arms. Most will say that genetically he just puts on fat in different places but the more likely reason is that he is focusing on arm training and not abdominal training.

i think u r over playing this scale thing..no one in pre contest phase eat crap food to makes him hold 8LB of water...besides we always weight first thing in the morning empty stomach to get real weight.tracking weight is also important that it gives to control how much u want to loose each week.my personal experience is if pre contest phase bodybuilder loosing more than 1.5lb per week he will most definitely loose muscles. that will end up with slower metabolism as he progress towards the show makes fat loosing up hill task..also without tracking calories how the hell u can maintain target fat loose weekly..u r very smart guy but u r confusing people..both of these things r v v important in contest prep..also eating 1000g of carbs is bad idea.no one need to go to v v low carb diet to loose fat..where u need to carb up that high..it absolute nonsense..i will eat everything include sweets daily i mean daily within my calories limit and still loose fat..just drop few more calories due to shitty TEF of simple carbs.
