The carbon pro g is one helluva bargain at like $25 if you are close to Siteone. I put it down prior to my Celebration Bermuda install 2 weeks ago. BTW that sod rooted down hard on day 2! I agree Ralph. If you've got a SiteOne nearby, then that's the way to go. I even say that in the video that it's what I would do. How you use it, is how a lot of local contractors use the product. Here's what I've learned: Plant Success Organics soluble miccorhizae: --2tbsp/gal/1000 --NO PHOSPHORUS OR FUNGICIDE for 8 weeks after app --Do in spring/fall immediately after core aerate, light water-in, no heavy rain. --Prep with 2 apps biochar (before in spring, after in fall), AND 1 app with aeration --4oz bag is 4000sq ft, 1lb bag is 16000sq ft --1oz=2tbsp

Thanks for this video. Someone mentioned Essential G but had no details. I am hoping you can answer some questions. I am starting from scratch a new lawn - with seeds. My NPK (especially the phosphorous) is way high. So - do I use the G in place of a fertilizer? And what setting with a Scott’s Wizz battery handheld spreader? I usually set it at 4.

You can use Essential G along with fertilizer Seth. Simply apply a fertilizer that doesn't contain phosphorus. Not sure what the setting would be with the Scott's Wizz spreader. That said, you can't burn your lawn with Essential-G so doesn't matter if you apply it heavily.

@Ron do you ever have any issues running the Carbon Pro-G through your Earthway spreader? I purchased some today at Site One and attempted to apply it at the lower setting of 15. It was not pushing through the spreader cleanly. I tried two separate bags to ensure I simply didn’t get a bad batch. I experienced this last month but was able to resolve it by hitting the side of the spreader with a stick. This technique was unsuccessful this time around. Any thoughts?

Hi Dante. The only time I've experiened issues with spreading it is if the bag got wet some how. Essential-G is a bit finer and spreads easier. You probably just got a we bag or 2?

Hi Michael. Adding granular carbon is a great idea since it's also an easy way to also introduce high quality compost to your soil. I look at Essential-G as a great foundation to any soil improvement program. The liquids still have a place too though. The ones I use are also from Mirimichi Green. What’s the pros and cons of this versus the liquid carbon kit you have in your store? Obviously some ingredients are different, but do you arrive at similar results with the main difference being granular vs liquid?

Great question Matthew. For starters, the micronized carbon that's in Release ZERO and Nutri-Kelp can be absorbed via foliar. So very quick uptake. Nutri-Kelp is 24% kelp which does a lot to improve the quality of your soil. The liquids also act as chelator for any fertilizers you apply along with them. In a nutshell any liquid products applied with the products in the kit see improved uptake. You get more out of them. Last year, I never went above .8 lbs of nitrogen per month on my lawn and still didn't have any issues with growth or color. Finally, Byospxtrum dramatically increases the number of healthy bacteria and fungi which play a big role in breaking down thatch, and making the nutrients in fertilizer available for uptake. I wouldn't look at it as an either / or when it comes to granular and liquid carbon. They're a compliment for each other. That's why I use both.
