Mengu, if you "fail to find" with Squadron Hawk, you still need to shuffle your library. But since the Hawk ability is a 'may' ability, you can choose not to search at all. Choosing not to search =/= failing to find.

I actually ended up ordering this build of gates for pauper and I've been having a lot of fun with it! Although a friend and I talked a bit and we decided to move the honor guards to the sideboard and drop one prismatic strand and the suffocating fumes in favor of 2 bonesplitter and 2 Seraph of Dawn. Bonesplitter makes the cats headaches to deal with if you get them early, and the 2/4 flying/lifelink Seraph has swung more games than you'd think. Great video guys!

Pauper is so fun... Can drunkenly order a deck at 2am and it won't have you regretting the purchase because it's less than 10 bucks! (How I ended up with my red/green slivers pauper deck... Ok, and the green/white saprolings aristocrat deck too...)
