A way I like to get the left pile to the middle is spreading the left pile in between me and the other two piles, and then do the middle pile to the left, right pile to the right. Leaves you with 2 3 1 When you square the cards up the left pile is now in the middle and it looks less suspicious in my opinion.

The card effect is called Design for Laughter and is based on the Dunbury Delusion (credited to Charlie Miller in Expert Card Technique). It's on the Royal Road to Card DVD set and is performed by Paul Wilson. It's a classic card trick and it suckers in the spectator into thinking you've missed their card, only to reveal it at the end. Can't beat a bit of classic card magic. Btw really like your handling.

Ohhhhhh!! This is a good one. One of a few variation I like to do is first know the spectators card (force or peak) then set up the 4 of a kind of that card (four 10 for example) but alternate the Ten, a random, the Ten, a random, the Ten, a random, the Ten, a random. Show them, do the move. And finally reveal the four Ten. Sometimes they even react like you mess up, you st*pid, or say thing like "you get 3 chances", things just line up even more. But in conclusion, the sliding move is the important thing to note and learn, once you experience with it, try out many variations yourself.

What a pleasure it is to see someone who has common sense and does not get lost in so much minutia and does not describe in detail what is obviously simple and does not need so many words describing and you have good technique. I have some stuff to share -- Love your glide method. Fools those who know that old method
@hbl142 Жыл бұрын
The variation I learned was where the packet with the spectators card on the bottom is held between the fingers of the spectators closed fist so that most of the cards are sticking out. The magician slaps the cards leaving only one card held by the spectator and it's the chosen card. Very cool effect. It was the first trick I learned, in sleep-away camp when I was like 10 or 11.

I have never seen that alternative glide technique. very open and MUCH better than the old glide move. thanks. another ending that is not a wager type effect but magic is that you show several cards several times eliminating some each time ---use glide to hide thier card. when they are confident that their card is not there Pick up the packet w their card on bottom and secretly turn it face up under the other 3 cards. have them make a fist and insert this packet to be held in their knuckles of 1st and middle finger. slap the cards and ALL FALL except their card starin g at them face up

To do the slide, if it feels too awkward for your fingers to squeeze like that. When you go to grab the bottom card with your other hand, just use that hand to slide the card over and grab the second to bottom card. That’s how I learned to do it.

This really is an awesome trick! I saw it for the first time on a Streetmagic video, the guy in that video also performed the trick very well and had a nice way of "losing" the selected card in the deck. Btw, instead of holding the deck in the width to slide I like to hold it in the length, that way the slide is easier to hide

Great trick! I have a question. At time 1:26-1:27 in the video, the bottom card of the deck is exposed and it's not the 10 of spades. the Ace of clubs is exposed as the bottom card. Where is the 10 of spades at that point?
@scaz97619 Жыл бұрын
I believe he controlled it to the bottom, shuffled it to the top then controlled it to the bottom again. Hence why he said “you know what?” and shuffled again.

The only problem I can see with this trick is some people will tell you the second you are wrong. So as soon as they see you put their card into the 'not your card' pile, they will say "it's in that pile". 9:12 thats a prime example of commenting before watching the whole video.😂 He didn't really know what to do either. I think the best thing to say when someone says you're wrong in this situation is, "how much would you like to bet that your card is in that pile?" And then end the trick right there by letting them turn the three cards over one at a time and then you show them the card is in the rest of the deck. Don't forget to take your winnings 😂

I have no idea why this video showed up on my feed, but it was very cool to get a peek into how to do a magic trick. Playing in to the showmanship side of the trick, I think that I (if I could actually do anything like this) would add the following. At the point where they pick a number between 1 and 10 and you pull their actual card from the deck, I would swap their actual card with the one they think is their card and reveal the now wrong card in your hand. Just when they think that you've really messed up, you turn over the one that is now their card that they now believe to be wrong. I don't know, I know nothing about magic tricks but it made sense in my head :D
