I'm a quadriplegic so making individual pancakes is pretty impractical, I mix the batter inside my rice cooker, hit start, and walk away (roll away). it works really well and there is virtually nothing to clean at the end.

Adding oil to butter actually does not raise the smoke point at all; the milk solids burn at the same temperature

The smoke point they talk about is the smoke point of the butter which is lower than the smoke point of oil so heating the two together does raise the temperature in which the butter starts to burn. And the reason that we don't just use oil since it burns slower is because butter is tasty and great and everybody loves butter. :)

As the o.p.correctly stated, milk solids will begin to burn at the same temperature range regardless of what oil shares the pan with them. The smoke point of butter is *limited* by the low burn temp of milk solids which is ~177*C/350*F.

Oven pancake is a really common thing here in Sweden. We often add pork to the mixure, no blueberries, and out pancake mix isn't really like your american one (main difference is no baking soda). We don't fry those ones either but just put it in a square pan and then eat it with lingonjam. So thank you for calling us genius

I love when my at home techniques I've figured out over time shows up in a video! It's like a pat on the back that I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. This one was the combining oils to increase temp point of butter (I ususally use coconut oil).
