She approaches it like a mother, she knows you might not have the time/need/want for finicky details or things that aren’t really necessary, and isn’t scared of using ingredients or methods other chefs might scoff at or look at in horror

It is funny that I love Carla and Claire for the opposite reasons. I love how much Claire is incredibly nerdy about cooking and therefore gets all stressed out about things coming out perfect and Carla, while being as professional as Claire, always has a chilled out vibe around her that makes you feel that even when things may get difficult (like with the elaboration of cheese on the pizza vids), she'll figure it out and things will be OK.

I had to flip it a fourth time to get everyone to be friends but after I let it rest it was awesome.

Just discovered this channel, even though I'm a former BA subscriber (I may have to renew). Carla is so relaxed when demonstrating. She makes the whole process look fun and easy. I also like that parts that could have been edited out or re-shot, such as the earring and not mentioning how long to bake until she is asked, are left in. And that is the easiest, no-frills crust recipe I've seen. I make tarts and pies. I'll try this crust as well. sidebar: More Carla demos, please.

If you wanna do this and ... well, do the folding... you want some nice tightly woven canvass for the kitchen. You'll have to hand wash and special dry the stuff but you can get really really good quick folds out of it. The canvass will capture some of the butter - you can very gently pre-load it with a little. The small fibers that will come off won't be a digestive problem. I also use a drill guide and a 5/8" auger bit to core apples.... Very important not to "pack" the stuffing of a piled tart into the crust, you'll need air gaps for the cooking to happen/breathe the heat into the fruit. You can enhance this by using a crinkle cutter for slicing the apples on your practice tart.

This recipe saved my Thanksgiving dessert! Thank you! The night before Thanksgiving, my mom and I realize that we only have a trader Joe's pumpkin pie for the 15 people coming for dinner. I ran into the store and grabbed some frozen puff pastry and a bag of apples. We had no tart pans so I used 2 small cake pans for the 2 tarts. Sliced the apples, tossed with lemon juice, sugar, salt, and a pinch of cinnamon. Pressed the dough down, browned the butter, filled the tarts, stuck them in a super hot oven. Boom...2 beautiful flaky apple tarts made in a pinch the night before Thanksgiving.

I'd assume that you can use any filling that you want. Maybe read up on how specific fillings tend to act then plan around it. Like trying to add a bit of sugar to the peaches, and waiting for moisture to be pulled out. You might even be able to make a nice glaze with that separated moisture.

Something about Carla looks different? Is it the hair? Usually she has some strands falling down her face but that can’t make such a drastic change she looks younger like she had a facelift or something

Carla is so lovely, and the recipe looks pretty simple to follow, from a family who don't do tarts (not in our culture) I want to try for Christmas!

🤩😄 yet with consistent yapping of "tart" it almost became symbolic.

I love the little cameos of Andy in the background😍 I can do this, just need the tart pan. Nice alternative to apple pie!

That tart was awesome ... I'm going to try it soon and mix a bit of clove and cinnamon in with the apples as well for a great fall taste ... The dough tip is great also , I like the rolling of the butter into sheets to get the layers ... Simple great idea . Great video !!
