But when you think about who she acted with and how well she acted with such amazing and iconic actors - you can see why she is an amazing and underrated actress just as much as how she is meant to be less noticed in those roles.. @@whimbird6538 Timothée Chalamet *is* a douchebag, so your concept is self-defeating. "I'm so ashamed to have worked with Woody Allen. I had no idea that he was under a cloud of sexual misconduct allegations when I worked with him--despite the fact that this has been public knowledge since before I was born. Yet now that I've piggybacked on Woody's name and my face has been on screens in cinemas across the world, I've made a name for myself, and it's only a matter of time until Hollywood asks me to appear in a remake of a popular 1970s family movie, one that will bring me plenty of cash. The money that I made from Woody's film? I'll donate it to charity to make myself look good. My fans will be too dumb to work out that donating the money from my inflated salary just means that I'll pay less tax--and like I said, I'll make a tonne of money from my next few movies, now that I've been in a Woody Allen film." By the way, remaking _Harold and Maude_ is a *horrid* idea. We shouldn't even be hypothesising about it.

I guess I have Carol Kane taste in movies; every single one is in my stash and rewatched regularly. Extra props for The Ice Storm, which doesn't seem as talked about.
@markv1274Ай бұрын
Interesting, isn't it? It's a film that seems to have disappeared from the public view. If a cinema were to play _The Ice Storm_ from a 35mm print, I'd go and revisit it. I was a teenager when I saw _The Ice Storm_ at the movies, so it'd be interesting to see what reaction I have to it more than a quarter century later. There are some films that I've seen only once, at the cinema, and I wonder why they don't do the revival circuit. Especially since _The Ice Storm_ has Frodo-Before-He-Was-Frodo in it, you'd think it would be ripe for another run, yet this is just one of those fandom things. People who are crazy about _The Lord of the Rings_ claim to be huge Elijah Wood fans. What they really mean is that they're huge Elijah-Wood-as-Frodo fans. It's the same mentality that causes _Star Wars_ fanatics to have a "meh" reaction when _The Hidden Fortress_ is mentioned.
@postmodernrecyclerАй бұрын
@@markv1274 I saw The Ice Storm with my best friend when it premiered. We couldn't have had more different taste. Both agreed it was some of the best possible of mainstream-ish filmmaking of the time. Perfect cast, like if the actors were changed it'd be a different movie, and Ang Lee before he was overblown. You should see it again if you haven't; it still holds up.

Why? She's 72 years of age. She's made plenty of money in her career. I'm guessing she's saved a lot of it--and if she hasn't, that's on her.
