This performance is exactly why I love to watch singer songwriters perform the songs they've written. I can feel her emotional connection to the lyrics and music through my smartphone screen & speaker. She genuinely connects with the song because she's the one who wrote it. It's a beautiful thing to witness. Carole King has been playing the piano since age 4, and it shows. I love her piano playing in this performance! It's so pretty!

Many years ago I watched a US made, entire documentary series of about 10 hour long episodes, on TV in Australia, about the history of Rock-and-Roll (note there may have been slightly different edits aired in different countries). In one episode Carole says that a song (and I'm fairly sure it was THIS song) was their breakthrough hit, and her then husband Gerry Goffin could finally give up his day job as a chemist, as the royalty payments were finally enough for them to live on. Carole says that she was so attached to this song that she demanded the recording studio session musician piano player be kicked off, and she played the piano herself, on the original hit recording.

Whenever I hear this song I like to think he answers "Yes" then kisses her, and he means it.

I remember how I cried when I heard Libby’s version after a recent break-up from a relationship I thought would last. Then I heard Bonnie Raitt ‘s recording this morning, over 20 years later and I felt the urge to cry again. I decided to listen to Linda Ronstadt’s recording and I could not hold back my tears any longer. Such a beautiful song..

Carole King always reminds me of what will happen if John lennon and Janis Joplin combined into one. A Legend that is.

this song brings back memories of the 70's for me. As a kid, i gravitated to all the sad songs. My father committed suicide in 1974 when i was eight years old and i know i have never recovered. My life was forever changed

I'm old enough to remember this song in early 1960's as a #1 hit. Other top songs of hers were big hits for many artists in the 1960's. So way before Tapestry Album, she was a great talent. Then she started singing her own songs in the 1970's and we the public discovered who those in show biz already knew was a rare talent. If girls had crushes on male groups, I had a crush on some of the girl groups being a guy. I always put Carole King high on a list that includes many, many female artists. My buddies would play Led Zep, but much like Oscar Madison to Felix Unger, I need to hear the voice of a woman also. So thank God for the great female artists too vast in number to name. Carole King is truly one of the great talents in the world history of music. I can think of many hundreds of women who belong in Rock Hall of Fame, but I'm glad the most deserving Carole King is In, and Why did it take so long ?
