21:02 Thank you!!! I’m a mid-size gal from a family of plus-sized women, and I’m intensely aware of the increasing shortage of mid to plus cute clothing, especially (but not only!) in thrift stores. There’s not much out there for us that’s actually Stylish and Attractive in the first place, but the “oversized” trend is leaving our choices picked over. It’s heartbreaking when I see DIY videos promoting cutting size 16+ clothes down to create outfits for smaller folks who already have such a vastly better selection at their fingertips.😢

Can’t agree with the part about not buying bigger sizes in thrift stores. The racks are always packed with clothes of all sizes and so are the landfills lol. 84% of donated clothes end up in landfills and if you don’t buy something there is no guarantee someone else will since most thrift clothes end up in landfills. If you like something just get it. You don’t owe anyone to leave it for them and it’s not like they can call dibs and run in and buy every piece of clothing in their size in every thrift store in the world so it doesn’t end up in a landfill. Anyone buying anything from a thrift store and loving it and using it instead of it becoming trash is a great thing. So please for the sake of the planet buy all you can and DIY whatever you want. If you see a piece of trash on the road you should just pick it up instead of thinking someone else after you will. That’s how places get polluted

Yea I’m familiar with the statistics…I have plus size friends that don’t appreciate people in smaller bodies buying plus size clothing to diy because they feel it does limit the clothing available to them! I respect their wishes!

I think this really depends on different kinds of factors like location and supply and demand. In the thrift stores (and regular clothing stores as well) where I live, bigger sizes are extremely rare, and most clothes are small/medium. I used to be a lot thinner than I am now and thrifting back then was much, much easier than with the bigger body I currently have. So maybe it‘s different where you live but for me it‘s almost impossible to find things that fit me AND that I actually like when thrifting (and regular shopping). The statistics you‘re talking about don‘t apply everywhere and shift a lot depending on where you live, what your thrift stores offer etc etc. Does that mean skinny people shouldn‘t buy oversized things? That‘s a moral question that‘s not up to me to decide for everyone but should I ever be thin again and fit into smaller sizes again I‘ll definitely keep in mind what it was like looking for clothes when I was bigger.

For me, it’s the shoes for sure. They can make or break the look. When I don’t know what to wear, I grab a white tee and jeans and let the shoes I want to wear dictate the rest of my outfit.
