This 1966 Chevrolet C10 short bed is a project I've been working on for nine years, through high school, college, and beyond. In today's episode, you see the whole restoration from start to finish. This Chevy truck started as a body filler ridden clunker, and through hundreds of hours of work and thousands of dollars, it is looking like a brand new truck. I learned how to weld, do body work, replace parts, fabricate, and paint on this truck. Do I recommend someone to do a full, no expense spared DIY restoration on a classic vehicle? Probably not, unless you're willing to commit a ton of time and money to the project.
Thanks for Watching!

I love that it don't have 52 inch wheels with a ton of lights underneath it making it look like a cross between a Christmas tree and a UFO. It looks like a super clean super nice build. I'm a Ford guy but that thing is gorgeous and I have a ton of respect for that truck and you guys for spending so much time and not quitting and selling it halfway through like most people would do nowadays. Much respect fellas . We need more people in this world willing to put that much effort into anything nowadays. Everyone seems to be eat up with how fast and cheap they can make something and how much they can sell it for. And props to your dad for giving the okay and putting up with all of it. He should get some kind of award for that lol. I can't wait to see it finished.

I have a 1973 Jeep J 4000 pickup that had a top swap done on it. before I purchased it I'm guessing it was rolled over some time previously. when I bought it had a severely blown up AMC 360 in it with two rod's though the block with TH 400 in it. and I got lucky a guy gave me a Buick electra with a Oldsmobile 403ci and a TH 400 in it. I pulled it and put it in the Jeep and then put a utility bed on it. I still have it right now it needs the brakes gone though because of leaky wheel cylinders. you are very fortunate to have a father that greenlighted your project. I wish I were so lucky. you should always let your father know how thankful you are. and how much you appreciate him.

its nice that you come from a family with wealth ,legacy and good parenting, there are many who never had this type of environment growing up so its nice to see that it does actually exist somewhere.consider yourself very, very lucky and enjoy your economic good fortune and fame.... i had similar dreams but my dads main dream was to get his first family out and his new family in. i was sent away to live with a couple i worked for during summers at 15 yrs old, really fun times. mother was gone when i turned 6 ,never to return and dad was more concerned about his new, ready made family. he recently passed away and his new family inherited my grandparents home and all of my fathers possessions. i received an old hand drill from approximately $800,000 of my fathers possessions and property.

You're extremely fortunate to have a friend like Isaac and many others that helped you out on this project and the resources to do it. What a phenomenal job man it turned out beautiful! I don't think I've ever got to see a restore of this year model that looked as awesome as this! Hats off to everyone who participated in the build! My dad still has his 66' fleetside. 1990 was my sophomore year and it when I turned 16 I found my first truck in a farmers field way out in the country where I went to high school. A 1965 Chevy Stepside short wheelbase. It had a very sun faded orange cab and a sun bleached, extremely faded and weathered white body, dirty ass mag wheels(General Lee style), entire bed floor rusted and rotted out, and a 283(I think, long time ago),lol with three on the tree. My dad paid the old man $1000.00. I had it for over a year and restored most of it . Wrecked it one night and caved the fender in behind the tire passenger side. Went to junkyard and got a fender off of a 1957 Apache but never got around to getting it painted. Put it for sale and had a preacher buy it 45 minutes after I put the sign on the dash. He said he would finish the restore. Wound up dating his daughter almost 10 years later and the truck still sat in the same spot it did after he got it from me. Nothing else done to it. Next time i get back where I'm from I'm staying and plan on paying this guy a visit to see about getting it back if it's still there.

I meant to throw you an idea if you ever decided to do a custom twilight set up. I had planned on getting the Chevrolet bowtie emblems that were on the front of the hood on 1969/70 pickups. They were chrome with a blue plastic insert(similar to tail light lens), and about 8 in. long. I was going to cut out an old taillight lens cover to replace the blue insert, drill the necessary holes in the back face of the fenders about a quarter of the way above the bottom and hope it turned out at least half as cool as I imagined. I saw a local guy use taillights off a Chevette and he Frenched them in the fenders. Not bad but Mustang taillights from a 73 fastback would've looked better if turned sideways. Have a good one dude and congratulations!

Super vid Jon. I know I had forgotten what started the channel so this was a great reminder of how C and C became. To mirror a comment below - was soooo cool to see dad's face light up when you started the C10 for the first time. I remember that same look on my dad's face 3+ decades ago when I was a young gear head. Kudos for seeing your project through. All those "isms" about time and patience and staying on track are so true. Hey - big shout out to Ike right? Isaac has a plethora of knowledge, a warehouse of information and experience. You two are a great team and I really hope to see the channel continue to grow - hopefully one day blossom into a business from which you both will reap the rewards of all your hard work. your big fan up here in lovely sunny CLE OH --- lol.

Woo-hoo! There is nothing like the sound of a machine you have put so much time and effort into coming to life for the first time. Hats off especially to your dad. Also kudos to all your friends and Isaac. Just be careful when you take it out for the first time that you watch out for that big silly grin. It invariably comes just before something unexpected happens. Also the most important tool to carry with you is a decent size fire extinguisher. I have seen too many newly built vehicles die in their first hundred miles due to fire. Above all, stand back and take pride in the fact that you did it yourself. Congratulations! Terry from South Carolina

Man, what a great feeling that is!!! A buddy and I just recently (finally) got a 1968 c10 running after a rebuild of just about everything besides the rusted body. Straight 6 3spd on the tree!

9 years, but at least you almost finished it! That's more than can be said for most people that say they are going to rebuild a vehicle. Congrats!

Yeassss. Finally a video on the truck. I remember back when it was just a sad ole boi in the garage. And when it was just a frame. I been here a long damn time. Pheww. Its been a while. I feel like were friends now.

Dude , I wish I had pictures of my 66, from years back! But, it was a short fleetside. 400 small block, Saginaw four speed. Power disk brakes, power steering, sway bars. It belonged to an old man that lived out in the country, where I grew up. My first drive, was after I'd just put the engine in and cab back on, only. I zip tied the battery in, no fenders no bed, she ripped, sweetly! Had a 86 Pontiac Grand Prix steering column, key switch, high beams all hooked up. You have a beautiful and Sweet build, can't wait to see it, I've been eyeing it every episode that it was in the background. Unless you're planning a concourse restoration, build it your way! Now, I've a ,59 Chevy Apache, Ford V-10, six speed! Waiting on your first drive. Do it's no backwards short to power, one way diodes, in the lines, so you don't hit the blankets and send power to the brake lights... Here here to your POPS!
