All the mentioned usage can be satisfied by many SUV that are much cheaper, yet more comfortable. Prado is not the best choice for family who don't drive off-road a lot. Because it compromises onroad comfort for off-road capabilities. I.e. choose to use body on frame and solid rear axle rather than unibody with independent suspension . This review is better to include demos showing how capable it is doing typical 4WD driving which random suv can't do.

It doesnt hold lower gears, it just has a better throttle response. It will only hold a gear if you smash the peddle. On the highway it will stay in 6th if you only slightly use the throttle. Thats why she said its better, because you dont need to accelerate harder. Ive tested this on the highway and it uses less L/100km in power mode than eco if you are crusing. Eco only cuts the aircon use hence why it can "save" fuel. Dulling the throttle on a highway is stupid. You cant overtake at all. You can compare Eco mode on the highway to a 4 speed Mazda 323 from 1998 lol

Looking at the prado, in fact looking at the SUV range from Toyota, across the board, they are still treating their customers like mugs. Oh, it has a DVD, do people still use those? It doesn't have wireless connectivity. The range still lacks much of what is standard in other SUV's. Toyota's attitude is, people buy what we want to offer ( because they do) instead of we'll deliver a vehicle that is actually of a 21 century design, because that's what people want. The 2.8 lt still isn't enough for a vehicle of that weight, especially for towing. But as with all vehicle manufacturers, they refuse point blank to listen. Tune the engine, upgrade the ECU and exhaust, upgrade the suspension, replace the tyres with A/T's all on a vehicle you've just spent a 100k buying. Oh and one last bugbear that bloody LCT, a tax introduced to protect the local car manufacturers, of which Toyota helped push. But today we no longer have a local car industry but the tax is still very much in place. Neither the motoring journalists nor the manufacturers are fighting to remove this government money grab. Buy a car that attracts the LCT and your negotiations should start from the point of no LCT.
