Grumpy is back!!

Grumpy is finally back! After getting knocked down pretty hard by pneumonia, Grumpy is finally rested up enough to get back out on some recovery jobs!
For this job I got called about an suv that was off the road and stuck in the snow. They said it had been there awhile because another tow company that showed up turned down the job. Due to some miscommunication about where the car was actually at, I thought the other company had turned it down because it was on one of the snowy side roads, but it turns out it was because there was no room to work safely on the side of the busy 55mph road. My general rule is that I don’t do side of the road/highway towing. It’s simply not worth the risk for me unless there is traffic control, law enforcement, or it’s a time of day or road with very little traffic. In a case like this where the vehicle has already been sitting for days, and no one is stranded there with it, I would simply turn down the job until the situation could be made safe, or another company with their own traffic control trucks can go do it.
Luckily in this case I spotted some tire tracks in the snow down near the vehicle and after checking them out, decided that I could take my wrecker down there to do the recovery from off the road.

Casey while watching that TV show, "Highway To Hell," I agree with you 200%! Those truck drivers won't slow down for anything, OR, move over and give the tow trucks any room. That is soooo dangerous. If I was those tow truck drivers, I would not step outside my vehicle without the RCMP there. I wonder why those Canadian truck drivers are so reckless? Are the US truck drivers also so clueless? Where I live in SE Idaho, the trucks will at least move over to the other lane. Some of the 4 wheelers are clueless though.

Wife has a 2014 Crosstrek. Brand new tires and I'm still spinning in the snow. They are all weather Highway Tires not winter tires. And that's where the problem lies with most of these vehicles.

Nice work driving that 2wd out. It's definitely a 4Runner. The light colored car you parked in front of is a Subaru Outback, which would have easily driven out of that spot. They won't make it out of everything, but they're better and more capable than most. Same with Audi Quattros.

I think these days, Subaru makes their cars with All-Wheel-Drive as standard equipment. That is the FIRST Toyota 4 Runner I have seen with just 2WD. You had it going pretty good, Casey! Great video!

Don't feel bad for mixing up the Subaru with the Toyota.
