What is it about the opening exchange that I find so fascinating?! Who is the woman with the Lego haircut to Cat's left? Does she appear to anyone else to be trying to convey disapproval or dislike towards Stevens? I find this little scene, this vignette, to be most intriguing.
@phineascampbell31033 жыл бұрын
@@wxyz9035 I agree about the presenter's attitude. I'm not sure about the way you see it. I think you're right, I don't disagree, do you see?! I mean there's something there that couldn't be got without inside knowledge. I think you're right. There's still something intriguingly out of our reach that is going on here, I feel. (That's what I mean by I think you're right but I don't know that you've got it right!! Sorry, I'm not being helpful or clear, I accept!) It's a lovely vignette, and I agree with you about what we can see. I suspect there's some aspect of sexual tension involved in some way, somewhere, that we couldn't know. I've lived as an expat, and I can totally relate to cat's reaction to the affront that you weather through cultural caution, yes indeed. And now you mention it, yes, the Lego haircut lady, she's famous isn't she!? I can't see the full screen on my phone, sorry that this response is a bit lacking in coherence!

@@wxyz9035 My God! No one has a sense of humour any more. It was a set-up they were both in on.

@@wxyz9035 Listen to what you're claiming. That Cat Stevens didn't know who the presenter of the show was. The Cat wasn't aware that the camera was on and for some reason following the host. But the somehow Cat knew to start singing. All the characters of the set seem quite non-reactive, but that was audiences of the day.

From what I know of TV production there is no doubt that this was staged to look 60s cool 😎 It’s a very unusual performance almost certainly mimed. The intro is an attempt at cool humour. Certain members of the audience will probably have been actors told to look cool and detached .TV production tools were simple back in the day and great effort was made to make music look different hence we see a scene at a cool ( I keep using that word cos it’s the 1960s) bar with a live act. This is an incredibly mature performance from a 19 year old. It will have been rehearsed too as you can not pull that off in one take without doing that, so everyone knew what was occurring.

Maybe he was taking some form of recreational drug. Back in the swinging 60's and 70's it seemed to be quite common for musicians.

Have you heard him speak about his faith? About himself? Or read anything he's said on the subject? The man has come to faith within Islam, but bonkers? I don't feel he is, myself. And I think organised religious institutions are wanky. But Yusef le chat seems perfectly normal still, to me, based on what he has to say about himself and his faith.
